Hi, great review. What advantages do the "Blizzard Thunderbird R15" have over this ski? Also Nordica's recommendations are: for skier 5'10"(178cm), Suggested Ski Lengths of (165-185 cm) GO SHORTER, CLOSER TO YOUR CHIN IF: • You are a beginner-intermediate level skier • You prefer making shorter/quicker turns • You are looking for a carving ski • You weigh less than average for your height GO LONGER, CLOSER TO THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD IF: • You are an advanced-expert level skier • You like skiing fast and making longer turns • You mostly ski off trial • You are looking at a ski with a lot of rocker • You weigh more than average for your height I am 179cm (male, 74kg) I think I would prefer the shorter category, to be more stable at slow speeds and make easier shorter turns. Should I chose ski length 165 or 170 cm? Thank you for your input. Have a good day.

There are no clear advantages between the two, it's more about snow feel. I feel that the Spitfire has a smoother and quieter overall character while the Thunderbird is more precise and reactive. Both perform at or around the same level in similar conditions and terrain. If you're 179, I wouldn't go lower than 170.

What will be difference between Nordica Spitfire 74 and Deacon 72? I am between choice of these two. Normally I am on slopes which are with different conditions during the day. Morning firm and nice snow and how days goes on melts start. I am advanced skier, 175cm, 88kg, like to curve but after am hours it can be difficult with 70mm and less under foot so looking for some hybrid solution. Also any recommendation on some other skis to check is welcome. Thanks and appreciate.

The Deacon is much more of a race-like feel to it while the Spitfire is a high-end carver. If you're looking for something more versatile, I like the Spitfire--very smooth and powerful for sure. Blizzard Thunderbird R15 is another awesome choice in this realm.

Hi Guys, I'm looking between NORDICA SPITFIRE vs DOBERMANN MULTIGARA DC, looking for a versatile high performance carver. I'm 185cms 220lbs.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 4 ай бұрын
The Spitifire is the more versatile of the two. The Multigara has two full sheets of metal so it just feels like a heavier, stiffer, and more sturdy ski than the Spitfire 74. That said, the Spitfire is still a relentlessly smooth and powerful carver, just without the top end of the Multigara.

Hi, who would you recommend the 74mm under foot vs the 80mm? Personally I'm an advanced skier who only does front side groomers (in europe) 195 tall 100kg

Very, very similar performance. It's all about preference. You're not going to get much better or significantly different soft snow performance on an 80 vs a 74 with the same build. It's all about how wide you like your carving platform. I personally like a bit more width as it provides a better balance point for me in a carved turn. The 74 feels more precise, but since I can't find the top end of the 80 in terms of performance, I'm not really interested in moving to the 74. Both are extremely smooth and strong.

How would you describe the difference in subjective experience between this ski, the deacon 76, and the deacon 76 master? I’m an advanced/exper looking for a high speed weapon. I love the 175 Laser AX but I’d like some more grip, pop, and an even higher speed limit while retaining a big sweet spot. I need the ski to give absolute hold on ice at high speeds, allow for varied turn radii, and not get too bogged down when the groomers get cut up or when things thaw (hence not going down below mid 70s). 5’10, 180lbs, like 50-60mph GS turns best but will sometimes slow down with friends. Found the laser ax in 175 and kendo in 177 very easy to ski- but lacking some hold on our boilerplate days. I’d likely replace the laser ax. Feel free to point out other skis you think would suit me better than the above! Will purchase through you guys, thanks!

The Spitfire 74 jumped off the snow for us this winter. We went from the Steadfast 85 to this ski and were simply blown away at how solid, smooth, and stable the new Spitfire was. It's on more of the same level as the Master than the normal Deacon 76 when it comes to power, with the main difference being the wood core and the Marker race plate. With Spitfire and Deacon, you are getting the system binding, and I think that makes sense for non-racing standpoints, but if you're going to be spending time at speed, or in gates, the plate offers a better sense of security and stability.

Will there be a full-length review of this new 74 DC or 80 DC?

Yes absolutely. We're looking forward to that one, actually. Likely will focus on the 74 as that's probably going to be more popular, but maybe we can pull off both at once!

Great test as usual! I appreciate it! I'm seriously considering buying one. I'm 187 cm tall, 82 kg, advanced. What length do you recommend - 175 or 180? I'm currently skiing a Nordica GT 80 Ti 180cm and it's great!

I'd go 180!

Awesome video! I’m looking for a front side carver to replace my Brahma 82s. Looking to go mid 70s waist width for more precision and speed (and grip on ice) on groomers. How would this compare to thunderbird 76 WB and stockli laser sc? I am 5’10” 185 lbs advanced skier and I’m also not sure what size to go with (lower or upper 170s?) my brahmas were 173 and while stable in most scenarios, they sometimes wash out in high speed turns. Would a mid to high 170s length be more appropriate for these types of skis or would they be too demanding? Appreciate the feedback as usual

Sorry we're a bit behind! While we always love the Thunderbird and its mix of solidness and energy, the Spitfire 74 is incredibly smooth and engaging. The Laser is on another level when it comes to silence and absorption, but it doesn't quite have the strength and power of the other skis. I do think the Spitfire is at the top of my list in terms of my personal experience, and I think the low 170's is the place to be for length for your stats.

I can't find any! Sometimes the names of these skis vary.

I just went on Nordicas website and the Pro has two layers of metal and the normal one is just their double wood core.
@crtko40

I think the PRO version has 2 layers of wood split by 1 layer of rubber and 1 layer of metal. Regular version is the same just without the metal part, so its softer.

Sure looks like my Firearrow 76 Ti. Why should I upgrade? Also, Spitfire, Steadfast. Help.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 4 ай бұрын
Very similar in terms of concept and spot on the wall. The skis with the dual core like this Spitfire and the Steadfast 85 feel smoother and quieter than the older versions. Steadfast, in particular, is a very easy to turn ski that has a very high end but a great value. Spitfire 74 is incredibly intuitive but you can keep on pushing it and it never seems to give in.

How would you compare this to the Blizzard HRC 76mm ?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 8 ай бұрын
Very similar in terms of application--you're looking at two premium carving skis here in the mid-70's. The new Spitfire does feel pretty darn smooth due to the new core construction, but it does lack the carbon elements that made the older HRC extremely poppy and energetic.

How would you compare with this vs 23 spitfire 76?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 9 ай бұрын
The new 74 feels smoother and rounder from edge to edge. I think a lot of it has to do with the new build, but at any rate, it's just a more refined feel while the older 76 was more grit your teeth and tough out some turns. The new one still has a high performance ceiling for sure, but it feels like it's easier to attain. Love the new 74.
