"Our Community Leader of the Year winner is highly recognizable as someone who has been engaged in a wide range of efforts to improve our community for its citizens.
After a challenging childhood, our Community Leader of the Year joined the Army and was one of the first US Army soldiers deployed through NATO to Bosnia in the 1990s. It was here that our winner was recognized with numerous awards for developing and implementing inventory control systems.
After serving our country, our winner came back to Pensacola and used the Army College Fund to attend Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida.
After earning her degree, our winner dedicated herself to helping Northwest Florida become a better place to live, work and play. Recent local leadership roles include representing the Education Pillar for the Pensacola Mayor’s Transition Team, serving as President of Escambia County PTA, as well as a board member for the Florida PTA. Additionally, our recipient is known as being a critical player in the Early Learning initiative for our community and was a Founding Member of CivicCon.
She also stood up and serves as chair of the Mental Health Task Force of Northwest Florida, bringing together stakeholders from across our region to address mental health needs and secure needed resources for our area.
