Great comparison and I agree on your points. I have the 2023 Defender Max Limited as you know and I really like it. So far, the Visco-lok front end has not given me any issues but Smartlok would be nice. I have had previous CanAm ATV’s and never had a problem with Visco-lok on those either. I have a nice Bluetooth speaker that I connect my phone to when I want tunes. I just pull it out of the storage box when needed. Glad you and the family are well!

I’m on the same page with Visco lock as you. Zero trouble on any unit we have owned. But I don’t abuse my stuff either. We are doing great. Glad you’re enjoying the defender.

I’ve had several Polaris rangers and they ride like a Cadillac, they were all dependable and great machines. I like the defender but the interior design and controls are way behind as far as technology goes

I agree somewhat on the cab except for the sound level. I have a 2022 Ranger Ultimate and just received my 2024 Can Am Defender Limited. I checked with a decibel meter and the Polaris is about 4 decibels less than the Can Am at idle. It's rather tough to tell the difference without a meter. I haven't tried at higher speeds yet because I'm not sure I will keep the Can Am and don't want the miles on it. Also an item that is important to me as a farmer is that I was able to upgrade the rear suspension with the self leveling shocks like the trail boss has. I have them on my 2010 800HD and they work great when hauling heavy loads like the 100 gallon sprayer I use. This is not a possible option for the Can Am that I can find. I'm not a fan of changing the oil on the Can Am (no spin on filter) and you have to go through the back of the cab for access. I do like the visibility and the extra room that the Can Am provides. I just don't understand why Can Am doesn't have the LED headlights and remote winch with the auto shut off with what these machines cost. Both these machines were close in cost. The Can Am was about $1000 more but it is also 2 years newer. My 2 cents worth.

I’ve never tested them at ideal only running about 30-40mph the 23 and up have bigger tires and are louder than 22.5 and back defenders. You can change the oil without rear seat removal but it’s tricky. I agree it’s a dumb setup. Thank you for your input

@@americandream_89 this is my first time using a training service, and I’m only doing it bc I don’t know much of her past and she’s really skittish. It’s hard to train her with that. She’s an amazing dog, that just needs help learning. I’ll let you know how it goes. For the price, she should be able to do anything.

Can am has completely dropped the ball with doors that don’t lock and no ride command. Those alone are enough for me to choose the Polaris. It’s unexcusable. You say there’s only 2 differences, that’s funny…. Front and rear cameras, locking doors, navigation, ride command, stereo. You add all those into the price of the can am you go way over the price of the Polaris. I’ve owned both, my latest was the 2022 can am defender max limited, it was nice I’m just not sure it competes with the Polaris North Star. I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t have locking doors.

If you need ride command you need ride command. I’ve had them all the 23-24 defender is my top pick. Ride command is nice but nothing that will help you on a trail ride. I also prefer the cab and visibility it offers over Polaris.

Im on a 27k acre deer lease and the ride command sure would be nice because it’s easy to get turned around on such a large piece of property. I would normally leave my buggy there but without locking doors I’m to scared to. If money wasn’t an object I would get the Polaris 1500 northstar ultimate. I saw one yesterday and it’s far superior to anything on the market. The doors feel like car doors opening and closing. It’s an amazing machine but it’s also the cost of a new Silverado Z71, lol

The defender looks better with the bigger tires and has more room in the cab, the new ranger has nicer interior, nicer technology and controls and I believe it has a better AC unit and heater

I agree mostly. But I’ve yet to see a Ranger or defender have a significant difference in heat or AC. Unless it’s improperly set from factory. As in needs freon or something else

So you compared the Trail Boss Northstar crew just for the fact that it has the high rise lower arched A-Arms from the factory? You can buy a Northstar Ultimate Crew and put the same a-arms for 380 bucks. The price comparison would be closer. Also Ride command is a 2700 add on haha you have to take in consideration Ride Command is just the screen and mount that doesn’t included the amp and 2 speaker! What do you think of your xpedition?

Most people looking are wanting a OEM unit and done. The only unit from Polaris with that is the trail boss. I haven’t looked into aftermarket but you would have to get front and rear along with time and effort to install them. Most dealers get 125-150 a hour I’d say they would use 6-8 hours to install. I’m perfectly capable of doing so but many won’t. Where are you getting them for $380 so people know? I hope not super atv their ball joints are complete junk. I’ve had several sets along with others. Any way you put it the defender is cheaper and the Ranger has nothing but ride command and LED headlights. Do you feel the Ranger is a better buy? We are enjoying the defender it rides extremely well. Can-am has nothing to compete with it so I’m hopefully they will next year. If not it will steal market share for trails.

@@americandream_89 Polaris offers the same A-Arms the trail boss rangers come with as a factory accessories straight from the catalog. 100% have done them and have done the highlifter forward face arched A-Arms and those are not cheap haha! Very nice but spendy without a doubt. From what we hear Polaris corporate they do not expect any OEM to touch a competitor to the Xpedition or XD 1500 within the next 2-3 years…

@@whitburn584 that’s great for Polaris. I expect the xpedtion to be a big hit. I wouldn’t go back to a ranger or defender over it regardless of the xpedition being loud and over priced. My wife on the other hand wants me to get another defender. We may get a 1500 to test

Great video with great timing lol im in the process of makin a deal on both and was leaning towards the defender for the reasons you stated. But for me the ranger in 8000 cheaper then the can am to buy because of the difference in my trade ins between the 2 dealers. Am i gonna hate myself for getting the ranger ?

In your boat, I would do the Ranger deal for sure. The Ranger is a great machine and you will be extremely happy with it.

@@americandream_89 one reason is because its a 23 northstar ultimate crew that he has had in stock all summer . Not a trail boss , also hes family to me and wants me to go from can am to polaris. And hea offering me alot more for my seadoos and my 2019 commander then the can am dealer is

Im also not goin to go on 8 hour rides , maybe like a 4 hour ride with a break in between lol but i also dont want it to be in the shop every other month type thing. cause ive never had an issue with my past can ams

@@johnnyhonda4404 To be honest, it’s extremely close and it truly depends on how your dealer preps them. As in if they get the Freon correct in them, etc. Both worked great and I can’t say I’ve ever got hot in either of them unless they’re not prepped correctly.

Need help! I have a expedition northstar 5 coming but my buddy has one and he rarely complains but he said it was really loud plus ungodly expensive. Should I get the can am limited or keep my ordered expedition? $10000 difference. Shocks and stereo in the polaris is unreal. Like unreal! Also I have a feeling can am is gonna either really upgrade the defender or introduce a new model

For me personally the xpedition is worth the money. I say that as in it didn’t hurt me to buy it and I write them off on my business. That’s not me showing out just for perspective. From a trail point no other cab machine can give you the experience a xpedition can. As in riding fast down a rough trail. The shock package is like you said unreal compared to a defender or ranger. It’s better than a commander or a general also. I don’t see anything coming from Can-am until 2026. But hopefully I’m wrong. Yes it’s loud compared to a defender but under 20mph on a trail isn’t much difference. If you farm at all go with the defender. If you’re tight on money go with the defender. If you don’t need the best trail machine possible and you’re not ripping down the trails over 20 mph you will be fine with a defender.

@@jenozanetti6664 the only difference from my already featured 23 line star is smart lock. Everything else is the same. I want to test the new stuff first. As I get with people over time I’ll feature that on the channel. But most people do not want to be on the main screen. I’ve contacted multiple people with units and gets no shows consistently. It’s not as easy as people may thing to do what I’m doing.

Is it me ? Or are we all crazy ? You can buy a new Jeep or 4 Runner for the same freakin price ! Don’t get me wrong I own a Can am maverick ! Probably north of 35000.00 Into with all my goodies 🙄 But Damn 50,000.00 for a limited Defender 🤯

They are expensive but if you want the best trail machine these are far superior to a Jeep or any vehicle for that matter. A base can-am defender limited can be bought for $32000. But I do agree they have gotten really expensive

I wish people with KZfaq channels would step up their game on these reviews, These new machines keep coming out and there’s no reviews, they say they have a hard time getting the machines to test? Customers are buying them, contact a customer and go do a review of their machine!!!! I’m quite sure they’d love to be featured on a popular KZfaq channel. Take a road trip and get on it. No excuses
