We open the new PSE Supra X. We discuss what has changed, what we would have liked to see. We discuss the PSE Supra X bow options. I compare older PSE Supra's to see what has changed over the years and discuss the evolving bow design of the PSE Supra.

For me personally, I would pay more to not have a shoot through riser! But to each their own ... Really enjoy your honest reviews. 👍

I like the fact that pse offers so many options yes as a seller it probably definitely makes it a pain but considering it seems like most manufacturers are going back to a 30" max and im 30 9/16" the options are nice

Thanks for another great review, its been a while since I have watched one. The wise old archer quote of the day....."it's really disappointing because your like I'll buy a new bow, then you shoot the same score".

I think that pse is the only company that makes 4 target bows at a good price point and the lazer bow is taken the place of the supra in my opinion

Teflon cable slide on a rod is my preference. Bring back shiny cams and risers please. Still charging target bow price for sprayed with basically primer paint.

In the US, the integrated rests are very popular. Just about every company (aside from elite) is doing it now

My PSE Drive was among those you've dealt with recently that had limbs fracture. Funnily enough, I had the strings changed out by the store I bought it from a few weeks before the cracking started. I knew there was a risk not doing that work myself. Anyway, I've been eyeing a target bow for a while now. The Supra range has been looking solid for a few years now.

If your fairdinkum in purchasing a supra, Archery Supplies still have New old stock, as Steve stated in this review they have a couple supras for $1200 which is a steel. In my opinion it’s the best value for your buck target bow available today.

I still Consider myself to be new to archery. Have only been shooting since the first covid lockdown. My first target bow was a Dark Cherry supra focus. Awesome bow, still is today. Have had no issues with it at all and still has the same strings it came with. Think I payed $1350. I understand since I purchased my supra we’ve had inflation, the war in the Ukraine and the state of the Aussie dollar is dismal but surely a jump of $700 to $800 is a bit much for the supra. The supra hasn’t improved on what it was back then. I’d assume it would have been one of your best selling bows at $1350, probably would have been the best selling target bow in Australia at that price Point but now $2000 it’s just an average target bow. Doesn’t have the ease of adjustability that elite and Bowtech have and if I were spending around the $2000 mark I’d look at the shoot through risers. Suppose it’s why I now look at the Chinese bows. They now sit where PSE us to hold sway in the market. They have improved in quality and supply a decent bow at every price point.

I am (now) a 50 year old archer - a man. I have allways since I in newer times started shooting compound (around 2010), prefered hunting bows. For a few reasons: They are in general shorter and thus nicer for 3D archery, but especially because I prefer lighter bows, also for target archery. I also only shoot with a quite short front stab 12-14" maybe, with not much weight in front. I have never used back stabilizer, some times I use a side stab, if I have trained a lot and feel I can handle the weight. I simply shoot better with short stabilizer, because the point of the front weight is not so far from the bow. Long stabs feels heavier, because the front weight is so far from the bow (could also partly be because I don't use back stab.). But it works great for me and the balance is fine - the hunting bows are probably balanced differently - it just feels better for me. I shoot better with this relatively light setup. About 33 years ago I bought a PSE compound bow, because I wanted to take the hunting licence for bowhunting (I live in Denmark). It was a pretty heavy bow. I tried to use it for target archery, but never shot so good with it. I gave up hunting, when the license should be renewed after the first 5 years and I sold the bow. Probably the one bow I don't regret selling, other bows like Mathews NoCam, I regret selling. Now I have a Hoyt Defiant 30 - very nice bow - and a leverbow - very nice bow, I like it even better than the Hoyt, kind of.

Concerns about cam lean is for the nerdy types who like to constantly tinker with their bows. Modern bows are more or less ready to shoot straight from the box and if there is cam lean, it's minimal. So PSE along with other companies has devised a clever way to get them to spend money and it's called Creating- useless-gimmicks-that-will-appeal-to-the-nerds.

I shoot a PSE Supra RTX 37 EM for field and 3D and a PSE Citation 36 EM for target and prefer both of these to the newer PSE bows, both of my existing bows will shoot better than I can, . It seems that bow makers have now adopted the Japanese Camera concept of bringing out a new 'improved' bow every year, whether we need it or not.

The dominator might take longer to manufacture but the part number mix is much lower as the left and right hand bows are the same so less changeover on the cnc mills which is more efficient. At the end of the day the true cost of manufacturing is probably not much different between the dominator and the supra. Lastly, at least PSE did not call the bow "Pro"....seems like every industry got the same marketing memo on how to increase sales by calling everything "Pro"...cannot wait til that fad is over.

I think the higher price will mentally make people think is is a better bow and not a budget bow. I thought at first when i first got into archery that maybe i should get the flagship model because that one must not be near as good being cheaper lol

PSE as a brand has always had a "value" image, & their Supra models have traditionally had that "cheaper" reputation, with price certainly the factor in their popularity with archers in my club, so with this new model now significantly closer in price to their flagship model, the Dominator Pro, does seem a shame, even though it should be right up there as a bow. Can it shake off that PSE Supra "value" image ?

Outstanding review Steve. Overall, I’m a simple everyday shooter, who’s had the PSE Dominator since 2016, and just absolutely love it. I can honestly say that with all the ongoing trends in tech., fashion, finish, and all the other so called gimmicks to claim improvement in shooting experiences. I have personally experienced also that simple is the way to go when it comes to shooting efficiently and accurately, and as you mentioned “ due diligence in one’s training “ . However, I find that when a bow is built and tuned to the Archer’s particular specifications and desired feel ( style ), it would be hard pressed to change anything from that point. Especially if he or she is shooting outstandingly good scores all the time. Like you said before it’s a trend, that newer might be better. But also you’ve mentioned that there’s nothing wrong with a perfectly good shooting older bow such as your Son’s bow. I wholeheartedly agree with you on that aspect. Like the ole saying says…..” if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it “. And this applies to my 2016 Dominator. Never had any issues, no dry fires, no nothing, but shoot very well in every tournament that I’ve participated in. If anything changes on my bow….it would most likely be updated maybe accessories I.e sight, or arrow rest, arrows. But overall performance from my dominator is up to this point, still outstanding for me. I like to keep it simple, and easy ( worry free )and the PSE’s from the past have been simple for me to work on, and tune ( no issues ) ……But, like everyone out there who’s a “ tinkerer “ just has to tinker….THATS just their nature……For me, my motto it’s ( K.I.S.S. ) “ Keep It Simple Silly “ 😎👍. Thanks again for the review Steve 👍
