For 2024, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is delving into previously uncharted territory for RE, and a step into the future for the brand. “Capable but not intimidating; that has been the ethos of the Himalayan from the start,” according to Royal Enfield. I think we can all agree, that pretty well sums up the simple, retro adventure bike from the Indian brand. Has the massive overhaul the Himalayan received changed this character? That’s what we set forward to find out, and what better place to do it than its namesake in Northern India.
This video is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the new Royal Enfield Himalayan. There's a lot more to cover, so don't forget to read the full written review here: www.motorcycle.com/bikes/manu...

Thank you Evans for all the years of motorcycle talk and reviews, sorry you had to leave us. I could not get on board with the original Himalayan, once I test rode one, I really came not to like the bike. This updated 450 looks like it'll actually be capable off-road and safe on road(you know it'll have enough power to go and enough brakes to stop...).

Great quick review and I do like this bike very much. And though a bit heavier than the competition, it also includes a center stand, luggage rack, crash guards and more fuel in the tank than the other guys. This could be a great bike for when I downsize my V Strom 650...when I get to old to hold it up when I get a little out of shape. And this, of course, will be much better off road. Can't wait to ride one! Oh, and that ride looked fantastic!

Because RE uses metal & not flimsy plastics like other bikes! And guess what for its intended use metal is more reliable & needed! Also lighter materials means more cost, meaning bike will be more costly, not ideal for RE!

Sorry for your loss. The new Himalayan is now a modern and enough powerful ADV bike. I think that it has the right amount of tech. What some other KZfaqrs complained about is the dash that is fleshing on videos. This is gonna be a problem only for KZfaqrs I guess. :) A great frost ride video. Enjoyed.

It will be interesting to see how well the bike works on US highways. At least from my experience, 30hp at the rear wheel seems to be enough to deal with most US roads, so this bike has enough power, the question is whether it feels good enough (stable and acceptable vibration level) on the highway to qualify as an "all rounder".

@@johna6968 It depends on what they plan to do and what riding they do. The US is a big place and it is common to travel on highways for over an hour. There are a number of places in the US where traffic moves along at up to 85mph (137kph). My area has rolling hills and traffic is a constant 75mph (120kph). It is nerve-racking to be unable to keep up with traffic and have cars and trucks rapidly approach from the rear. Motorcycles are not terribly common here and, believe it or not, many motorists don't always notice that one is in front of them. A lot of motorcycles are hit from behind. There are even high-speed expressways or bypasses inside and around even small cities in the US, so quickly getting up to speed and staying with traffic flow is important. If you read comments on the older Himalayan, many say they avoid riding it on high-speed motorways. That limits its utility. Used models frequently come up for sale and a common reason is "not as useful as I thought it would be". A strong water-cooled 350 like the R3 can keep up. My old air-cooled FT500 only produced about 27hp and it was enough. My current Z400 has more than enough power.

Of all the reviews I've seen, this is the first that dares to mention software glitches that Ryan and others experienced. Since these are pre-production bikes, hopefully R.E. recognizes and solves the issues (without creating new ones). It also seems wrong that the "Off-Road ABS" setting disables only the rear ABS: wouldn't it be more appropriate to disable the front ABS for off-road?

One Indian KZfaqr who bought the bike and even took it home said it still has a few glitches. However RE has improved its tripper thingy and their RE app, so they have set a precedence for improving their software. Time will tell..

I realize that most ADV type bikes are not lookers, but this new Himmy is downright homely. The previous generation looks much better. I suppose just like dogs, babies and girlfriends, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My NTM '13 V-Strom 650 is so much better than my '21 Himmy in all aspects excepting for off roading, which is less than 5% for me. It will be interesting to see how the 2nd gen sells. I appreciate your reviews, keep up the good work!

I feel it has lost it’s vintage look which for me made it exciting. It seems that based on the success of this model they have introduced a lot of riders to the hobby and as they progress they will look for more performance. So it looks like R.E is making some excellent business moves. But i enjoy vintage vehicles and motorcycles have an advantage over heavily restricted car safety laws in order to make new bikes that look old, so they should enjoy that while it lasts.

at 2.43 you say it has an 18" rear but not only does it look like a 17 but the video clearly shows its a 17" tyre fitted. So may videos are misreporting this or presenters are saying what they wish it to be rather than what it is. Its such a basic thing to check. To get it wrong brings in to question how much of the more technical information in the video, that is not so easy to check, is wrong or wishful rather than fact. Its not even like you can say you had limited time to get the data during the test ride, its right there in your video. Pointless having the video out if the info in it is wrong. Its just pictures
