Looks like a great reel. My dealer didn’t have them. But they had a few Vanford’s. So I picked up one of them. I’ll keep looking for a Twin Power. Thanks JP.

I like the old/previous version better because there’s more color and give the reel a more defined character

I don’t mind neutral colors as they match better with the rods which tend to have more distinct colour options. Probably why Shimano chooses to keep reels neutral, so they are pigeon holed to one specific rod model

Agreed. The balck and gold look was fine with anything. Now it matches two other reels that are already neutral which are perfectly fine. I like when shimano give a little accent to reels. The Vandford/Zodias is a given but I even have the Curados on them and the black and red and black and green don't mean anything. They're just bulletproof combos.

SW is a completely different reel as they are larger sizes and designed specifically for saltwater. The FE is a beefier and more sophisticated offering when comparing it to the FD, the last version.

Question. Looks awesome but is this something worth getting for bass fishing? Over something like a Stradic or a Vanford ?

It an amazing reel but so are Vanford and Stradic. It really just depends what you are looking to spend and what technologies you want. I have used reels from Sedona up to Stella and all have a place in my collection. Stradic and Vanford are amazing reels as well

Many of them haven’t shipped yet. Typically manufactures release products and market them so retailers can place orders and then ship product within 2-4 months after the release.

is X Protect the feature with gear box sealing or just the labryinth style body make up?

When would you choose this reel in a freshwater situation, always thought this reel was more of a offshore reel

It’s available in a 1000, 2500, 3000, 4000 and 5000 size. It’s designed for Freshwater just like the Stradic or Stella. Does well with inshore as well.

They are definitely conservative on their reel colors

@@md560Shimano do have the Calcutta Conquest in silver, but it’s comes in the Calcutta Conquest BFS and Calcutta Conquest DC; just not in the SVS braking system that on always in gold, I know this because I owned all three of them

Is Shimano going to ever going to put "X- SHEILD" in their lighter reels??? Like Ultegra, Stradic, Nasci, Vadford etc....If they did they would smoke Penn out of the water literally
