0 to 60 in three seconds. Man, you better have a good grip on those handlebars and have your feet positioned well. Back in about 84 a pal of mine bought a GPZ1100 and let me take it for a spin. I was in 3rd just rolling along slowly doing 60kmph and I opened it right up. It took off so fast and I did not have my feet set so I slid back on the seat with my feet off the pegs. This, of course, opened up the throttle further and it was a real struggle to pull myself forward to throttle back. It was at that moment I knew I should never own such a beast! LOL!

Yeah, you do have to be ready for it. These bikes can hurt you.

I got that cosmic yellow ride since last september and I´m still on the verge to get that flyscreen. Should I? Im a little worried that I get a lot more wind in my face. Also my quickshifter is kind of acting up atm... from 4 to 6k rpm its just smooth as silk but once I really pull that grip I starts to "jerk" a little. You got that aswell maybe? Thanks for your content! EDIT: NICE to see my old bike, the XSR900, aswell in that video!

The fly screen is great, the air is cleaner than without. I also have issue with quick shifter, but I know there’s a quick shifter support from Racetorx that could help.

@@gunmenow Thanks for the quick answer! Talked to my Triumph dealer and he said he can "reset" / "readjust" the quickshifter behavior. So I´m going to meet him soon

I thought the same thing with the wind, sometimes a wind screen can make it worse. But for me at 5'11" it works very well. The air feels clean with no buffeting on my helmet. As far as the quick shifter goes. I have never had an issue, its just a smooth as the day I picked it up... just about to hit 6000 miles.

Hey Ken, I have a subject I would like to hear about. How do you apply all your years of experience in drag racing to this bike and motorcycles itself. I still don't quite understand the deficit with the tach and it would be cool to hear your knowledge about using the tach, listening/using the gears and applying it to this and other bikes.
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken 2 ай бұрын
I think in my case it is what I'm used to. A sweeping tach, whether is be a sweeping needle or a bar tach is easy for me to pick up. Especially when you are on a bike and you have to keep your eyes on the road. Having a tach you can see move in a clearer way helps me tremendously. My race car goes from 0-60 in about 1.2 seconds and I have to shift first gear quick. Having a large sweeping tach makes it more consistent to hit the same rpm on shifts. Now having said all that, is it that important for most riders... probably not, but it is for me. The gear ratio on the Triple is spaced very close, its what we would call a close ratio gear box. I'm guessing Triumph wanted to keep the engine in its power band, so keeping the engine rpm close between gear changes helps the Triple accelerate very quickly even though it has low torque numbers compared to it rivals. Lets take the FZ1, it has a very high ration gear set. I can reach 80mph in first gear. I never over rev the engine on gear changes for 2 reasons, the gear ratio and it has a traditional tach that is easy to ready. Like I said, you reading the numbers in first gear at full throttle between 9000, and 12000 without hitting the rev limiter is amazing, and its something I wish I could do. Its not a deal breaker, and in most case when riding its fine... but when I want that perfect pull, I would like to hit my shifts on time.

One thing I don’t like about street triple is the quick shifter. Sometimes I just quick shift from 1st to neutral, and downshift from 2nd to neutral. Also I find it’s hard to find neutral when stopped from 1st. Anything else feels great.

No issues with finding neutral or getting false neutrals.

Try to adjust clutch friction Point a little further out. It helps a lot finding neutral

Looks like they haven't fixed my 2 primary complaints about the 2020 model. Cruise control is still absurdly expensive when it should be standard. And 6th gear is still way too short - they should cut the 6th gear ratio by half.
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken 2 ай бұрын
Its hard to argue with those complaints. The cruise is way over priced, and it could use a high ratio 6th gear. For a naked bike I can see why they made the gear box short, it was more for sporty use than touring. It seems like most manufactures don't give bikes that nice overdrive gear when we just want to cruise on the highway with sport nakeds.

@@Yo-Ken I get why they do it, but it's a street bike, not a track bike, it's right in the name. As it is you have to be going go to jail fast to use 6th in a sporty way on public roads, far better to make it a highway gear.

Can you hit 60mph in first gear?
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken 2 ай бұрын
Yes, the rev limiter kicks in about 65mph in first gear... so it is possible, but its hard to read the tach so I tend to shift right around 60mph.

So everyone that has one in the comments is ok doing valve services every 12k miles? I ride 300 miles a week. That's a valve check every 40 weeks. Doesn't make since for a daily. Nice power band though, hands down. It just starves out at 110 mph.
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken 2 ай бұрын
If you don't do your own service, I could see that as an issue, I do my own. Power for me does not fall off until around 130mph, but if you are coming off a super sport that can go 175mph plus, I get it it.
@sauceboss9313
@sauceboss9313 2 ай бұрын
@@Yo-Ken I do my own service but I don't want to take the cams out once a year. Twice a year every third year. The valves are going to seat rather quickly due to the nature of the triple. That's the only reason I passed on one. Dealer had a 2022 with 900 miles for $7200. Couldn't do it.

Yeah, when I first look at Triples I was not keen on the headlight. But like the GS I owned, I never thought of it as good looking bike, but over time I began to like it. Are they better looking bike... sure, but the other bikes in its class don't tick most the boxes as does the triple.
