Protect your eyes! Don’t wear the thin eclipse glasses. In 2017 I traveled to Adams Tennessee to see the eclipse in the path of totality. It was so breathtaking i couldn’t look away. That night on the way home I started noticing halos under every light, in the shape of an eclipse. 7 years later I still see them without glasses. The retina has no pain receptors so the damage will be done before you know it.

I looked without glasses last time but I wasn’t staring at it either. I would glance for a moment then look away just in case. Besides, the shadows were pretty neat to look at.

Also, don't point your phone's camera straight at the Sun unless you have a filter for it. A lot of people destroyed their phones that day.

I drove over 2 hours away to see the totality of the eclipse in Cape Girardeau, Missouri but it was worth the trip to see in person. I agree with others here, all the pics doesn't compare at all to seeing it in person. The birds went crazy moments before complete totality, the temperature dropped and became dark for 4 minutes long. And the gamma burst you could see all around the moon! Such an awesome event to witness for the first time in my life and probably the last time I'll ever see a total eclipse since I'm 53 yrs old. The next one won't be here until 2044. God is good and such a magnificent artist!!! ❤🙏

When he said you wouldn’t have very long to view it… roughly 3 or 4 minutes is actually a long time to view something like this. Beats the hell out of a few seconds to a minute. Let’s just hope the weather permits excellent viewing opportunities for those few minutes.

The rotation of Earth plus the moon and Earth are not lined up in a level plane, the orbits are tilted. Look up future and past eclipses, tracks are all over the place.

The last total solar eclipse was 2017 over the USA. The next one will not be until 2044. Partial eclipses happen all the time. But a total solar eclipse is rare to happen over the USA.
