Overview
The features, practicality, fuel efficiency, and no-fuss ownership available in the regular RAV4 keep Toyota’s compact crossover selling like movie-theater popcorn. If you want butter on that, the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime offer it by being both quicker and more fuel efficient. The Prime plug-in hybrid model gets 38 mpg combined, can outrun a four-cylinder Toyota Supra sports car to 60 mph, and can travel 42 miles on all-electric power. Add all of that to the standard RAV4’s striking styling and comfy cabin, and the hybrid models become easy additions to a car shopper’s comparison list. Nevertheless, it feels like Toyota missed the opportunity to inject some pizzazz when it installed the electric motors. The RAV4 Hybrid and Prime exhibit the same lukewarm handling as the non-hybrid model, a weakness that more fun-to-drive crossovers such as the Honda CR-V, the Hyundai Tucson, and the Kia Sportage-all of which also offer hybrid trims-are not hampered by.
What's New for 2024?
Army Green, a paint color already seen on several of Toyota's bigger trucks and SUVs, makes its way to the RAV4 this year. The hue will be offered with the rugged-looking trim levels-the Woodland Edition hybrid, Adventure, and TRD Off-Road. The color is a no-cost option on the Adventure and TRD Off-Road models, but on the Woodland Edition Army Green will require an additional $500 to be paired with a Midnight Metallic Black roof. You can also now pair the Woodland's Ice Cap exterior color with that black roof. The Woodland Edition also gets a standard 1.25-inch activity mount ready to accommodate a bike rack or cargo carrier, and there’s a new optional Weather package that adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and rain-sensing wipers with a de-icer function. The two-tone option is also offered on the Adventure and TRD Off-Road, and on those models, you'll be able to choose between either a black or a white roof.
The price of the 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid starts at $33.075 and goes up to $48.910 depending on the trim and options.

We recommend the XLE trim, which boosts the amount of standard equipment without boosting the price too much. XLE buyers get standard LED fog lights, heated exterior mirrors, 18-inch wheels, a power liftgate, passive keyless entry, synthetic leather seating, soft-touch armrests, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a moonroof, and blind-spot monitoring.
