Too much plastic and console/controls all jammed together too close (center console/shifter/dash area) for my liking. @@GrandsonofKong Could be. I had to do front wheel bearing on one side within 60K miles. By the time I got rid of it at about 90K it needed another one, and it’s an expensive job on these vehicles, as you probably know. Previously, the driver’s seat creaked constantly, the paint chipped off if you looked at it too hard, I had to have the cab mount bolts replaced under warranty, and had the noisy lead springs fixed, also under warranty. They low filled the trans from the factory if you had a towing package which caused many transmissions to develop slips and damage. Toyota went on to say, "it shifts like a comparable truck". Like all the other broken ones xD. They mismatched the gearing in the rear and trans. It hunted aggressively trying to force mpg. Hell mine locked up its rear diff out of the blue. You actually don't know what you're talking about. Until recently Toyota and Honda have undeniably been BY FAR the most reliable cars for a VERY long time. But recently with the government pushing regulations Toyota has unfortunately started switching over to CVT transmissions. Costs more, harder to work on, and far less reliable, but gets 1 to 2 percent better gas mileage to help meet government regulations. They've also switched to hybrid only for both the Corolla, and the Camry and some other cars for 2025. If your family has problems with Toyotas either they bought them used and the former owners did not take care of them and your family members did not know how to inspect a used car, or your family members themselves neglected the maintenance. It is an undeniable fact that Toyota (until very recently) has had the most reliable cars on the market. That's just an undeniable fact. And we don't know yet if their cars will remain as reliable because as of now it's far too early to tell how the CVT transmissions and hybrid battery cars will hold up. But you don't know what you're talking about and my 99 Camry with 301,000 miles on it (looks old but drives like it's brand new and still has ice cold air conditioning) or my 09 Corolla that still drives like the day I bought it is proof positive.

On Facebook, multiple 2024 Land Cruiser owners have reported 8 speed failures in recent weeks yet other owners report no problems towing 5,000 pound trailers hundreds of miles. So maybe there is an intermittent AISIN transmission component manufacturing defect or assembly problem rather than an inherent transmission design issue. Back in the 1970's - early 2000's AISIN 3 and 4 speed automatics never had manufacturing or assembly issues so warranty repairs were almost unheard of.

@frank19082 ай бұрын
@@TheCarGuyOnline No it absolutely happened. I have no doubt. What you have no idea about is how that person drove their vehicle, how that person maintained their vehicle, did that person follow the break in (were they towing like they are not supposed to be, were they WOT like they aren't supposed to be in the first 1000 miles, were they varying their speed), and finally what did they remove and add ( did they mod the vehicle, did they tune the vehicle). Do you know the answers to these questions? Lastly, there are lemons. Yes, even Toyotas. By absolute number a significant amount. By percentage a very small amount. I would take all of these with grain of salt like every review/complaint. Especially the message board geniuses. The same people that think they know better than the engineers that designed the vehicle on what fluids/oil to use; switch it and then bitch about powertrain issues. Time will tell. You are correct about that. And don't get me wrong, I understand the clickbait game. I respect it; do what you have to do. Such is the way of KZfaq visibility.
@TheCarGuyOnline2 ай бұрын
@@frank1908 If I'm reporting based on actual data I can sleep well at night, this is hopefully not considered the egregious clickbait that some channels perform, but I know some people still see it that way. If we are honest, everything is clickbait in the end, just varying degrees. My goal is to have the bait be based in truth/facts/real stories, not just for the sole purpose of a click. If any KZfaqr or media outlet says otherwise, I suppose they are lying. It's similar to fishing I suppose, I wouldn't fish with no lure and just a hook to make it harder to catch fish. Regarding your thoughts on how they drove the vehicles. You never really know how anyone treats their vehicles, whether it's from a single failure, or 1000 failures and recalls, this is nothing new. Saying something is "anecdotal" whether it's with political rhetoric or cars, doesn't make things not true or less valuable information. Also, most failure mileage on these transmissions do not fall under any maintenance interval recommended by the manufacturer. Yes there are lemons, these could be just that (outside of the manual transmission issues). I think the manual transmission issues are worse, and it seems Toyota doesn't have a fix yet for those, or doesn't know what the root cause is yet. Statistics at the end of the day, are a long term/rolling aggregate of anecdotal evidence, hopefully you can acknowledge that. Just because problems occur in low numbers of vehicles, that does not excuse the manufacturer or absolve them of responsibility in QC/Engineering/Testing and overall response to customers. These vehicles cost a LOT of money, people do not expect that buying one is similar to playing roulette with regard to quality or safety. I agree, this might be a big nothing, or it might be something. I remember when new Tundra engines were blowing early on, people said "anecdotal" over and over, they still do, until the issue got too big to ignore, now look where it is. I think we are on the same page about how to evaluate it in the end, time never lies, time always reveals the truth.

@@TheCarGuyOnline I can agree with all of that. I just think 5 reports and a message board posts (many of which are probably the same people) is hardly an indicator of an upcoming recall like the question in the title implies. Who knows? Maybe it is. And I expect there are many more. And more to come. Like every vehicle in production for all of history. And I agree that actual people are affected. But the reality is lemons happen. Period. Unavoidable when you mass produce any product. You know this when you buy a car. That’s why there are lemon laws. 5 reports and a message post is not indicative of a widespread issue. Hell, 50 isn’t. Those 50 can be very loud. The other 95,000 can be very quiet. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be pissed. Doesn’t mean I don’t feel for them. And it doesn’t mean the Tacomas have a serious issue on their hands. The Tundra recall is bad. No question. Sounds like it is specific to one main bearing. Was it a batch? Was it every truck produced in a certain time frame? Sounds like the debris on most Tundras were small enough to pass around the bearing and get caught by the oil filter without issue otherwise you would have way more than 800 by this point. Obviously for the 800+ in the recall to this point there was bigger debris that could not get past the bearing and ka boom. I will be interested in the plan going forward. I soul say EVEN for the Tundra the jury is still out. If it is just a couple of batches or a date range with most not having debris large enough to seize the engine, and they fix the issue this will be but a blip on the radar by the end of this model’s production. OR there could be other issues pop up with the turbo and this be the death of a brand’s reputation. My bet is on the former. But I am not knocking KZfaqrs for striking while the iron is hot on paranoia, rage, and disaster. It is pointless to make a video after the facts are known fully. The money is made on clicks and clicks requires speculation, paranoia, and a sense of time running out. “THE USED CAR MARKET IS CRASHING!” For 36 straight months. “So and sos sales PLUMMET! Is this the end.” And there is a perfectly reasonable explanation that has nothing to do with the product or company. Same gamelan that consumers bite on for warranties for literally anything and that scammers use. Not calling you a scammer by the way, it is just a blueprint as old as civilization. “Time is running out (said the Catholic Church). Better get you donations in and buy your way to heaven while you can. The plague is in the next town over.”

@@frank1908 LOL "THE USED CAR MARKET IS CRASHING", I'm always amazed at how those videos STILL get hundreds of thousands of views. I figured out why they keep running those headlines though, CarEdge, Car Questions Answered, and others. The main reason they keep running the same thing over and over is obvious, the success of the videos, but also I started to look at KZfaq statistics even on my own videos. Turns out 90% or more viewers for each video are "new", which was really odd to me. I think they have such a large number of viewers that are "new" each time, it must be worth it to annoy their existing audience. Scotty Kilmer does the same thing, same headlines for years, but they seem to work as a long term strategy. My goal with this channel is to try to teach people that they don't need new cars that cost $80,000 and how to buy reliable used cars and save for retirement, however those topics are very boring, don't have any element of instant gratification, and don't seem to do as well. I'm going to keep sprinkling that theme in though, the larger audience I can reach, hopefully the more people I can influence to truly get control of their finances which ultimately leads to more freedom for them. You are 100% correct on what sells and what doesn't. I've been trying to strategize, how do I create headlines that get these doom-scrollers to click (seems to be the highest number), but then counter that with an actually balanced video with some real data. One thing I've noticed is that most people don't even watch the entire video, or don't pay attention if they do, 50% of comments are trying to notify me about things that I actually put in the video (statistics or whatever), and it's clear they just rushed to the comments to fight or get noticed. It's an uphill battle, but hopefully I'll solve some equation of entertainment, education and actually bringing some awareness to the overspending consumer driven society to wake up a bit :). We'll see where it goes.
