I bought a new 2017 YXZ clutch model and put over 6000 miles on it. Mostly Glamis Sand dunes, and Arizona desert. The machine was rocksolid, and never gave me any trouble. The fit and finish combined with the build quality and reliability was amazing. I truly miss that machine!

this is pretty cool i didn't like the yxz before but this helps me like it more for sure. i wish we could see more of these transmission in other machines as long as they can get the auto working good. im a mud rider so i dont care about how fast it is, what gets my interest is no belt snorkels, now that would be awesome to just have one snorkel for the engine and away you go. maybe well see something crazy come from cf moto with what ever there new 3 cylinder engine is going in? they are a partner with yamaha now. i doubt it but who knows cf moto does do some weird stuff haha

The point of a yxz was different than any other side by side. I reflashed my 16. Put 31in irok NDs on it with a bit of offset. Put 20k miles on it on the street before it was totaled. On I10 with a reflash and redline raised to 10.5k it would get to 99 mph pretty quickly. But...if you were willing to keep it pinned...you could get 106 on the GPS. it never felt super confident offroad, but on road is was an absolute blast.

you should explain the autshift sport mode deeper...auto for cruising ect is clear, but for competition it should shift down just before the higest torquecurve point comes and up where engine is best....i could not ready anything about this...as well, it should be programabel.....and anyway, they need a tuffer sport version with 200 horse ON the wheels....then they could be BEST

@@dondelche just remember, YXZ is only happy above 6,000 RPM. So if you drive it hard, it will be loud and the transmission hums right next to you if you go fast. I take the noise any day over a rubber belt trany.

I still think Yamaha is my top manufacturer. But they have fallen so far behind in the UTV market that the YXZ is a non-starter. Outdated subpar suspension geometry, no OEM turbo, no OEM long travel, awful frame reinforcement (multiple YXZ's I've seen with frame damage of arms ripping off the car), and the worst and most dangerous OEM "cage". I can't imagine spending $23,000+ on a car like this when there are others that beat it in every aspect other than having the transmission. These cars can be amazing with deep pockets. Turbo kits, rear suspension redesigns with proper trailing arms, long travel, etc. They could easily bring to market a Turbo R and Maverick RR competitor with OEM turbo, long travel, and redesigned suspension geometry and charge $30k. I know I would eat it up in a second if they had a similar competing car with Polaris and Can-Am. I do love Yamaha, but they really need to step it up and stop re-releasing a car from 2017.
