You don't have to worry about the UK general election. The election is well run democratic and freely. Election fraud does happen from time to time but it is normally dealt with effectively by the law of the land, This is just a way the english people like it, no fuss or violence, it is what englishness all about.

There is a cultural difference between Hong Kong and English people. Hong Kong people prided themselves on their efficiency, sharpness and combativeness. They think themselves very smart, think their own opinions the only truth. There is no allowance, and of course no respect, for opposing and different opinions.. That is a narrow mindedness typical of the people of a small city who had been successful in their own limited sphere and have no global view of politics. The UK is a more developed society with a long history of parliamentary politics. Voters vote for a party, not for an individual. The people do not choose a Prime Minister. He is only the leader of the party who won the most seats. The candidate does not need to go around exhibiting himself -- the sort of exhibition which makes Hong Kong elections and, to some extent ROC ones, appear like a circus. UK culture has more depth, flexibility and gentleness. There is a subtle contempt for people who try too hard and are too pushy. Hong Kong people who come to reside in UK have to accept this culture, and do not try to 'improve' it out of a false sense of superiority.
