Why do manufacturers think they know better than their customers??? Folks want physical buttons… for AC it’s essential. Sorry but NOT buying Andres puff piece, this is another flop for ford.
@s.patterson5698
@s.patterson5698 5 ай бұрын
Exactly! Physical controls is so much more efficient and safer to use while driving. They are thinking of their bottom line, making it cheaper by having all controls on screen, but it is more dangerous trying to swipe and fiddle with the screen to make adjustments. Too many manufacturers shifting to all touchscreen controls.

Hate the fact they are ditching so many buttons. Basic HVAC controls should be on the dash. Putting them in the screen makes it harder to use without looking away from the road. I will say that if you have auto HVAC that is not as important but having a fan control and temp control on the dash is better to me.

They've increased the price because there are more included standard features he says. Does that mean they'll bring back everything they viciously de-contented from the 2020-2024 model? I bought a 2020 Ford Explorer XLT. After that first year of the current generation they have done away with: Acoustic glass, engine cover, sound insulation under hood, paddle shifters, courtesy lights under radio, inside glove box and inside center storage console, climate temperature indication near hard buttons on center stack, heated seats (front and rear), heated steering wheel, heated windshield.

I had 60K set aside to buy a Bronco and that has been put on indefinite pause. I know everyone's got their story of how they have a 200K plus Ford, I have my story as well, but the brand has gone backward and has not gotten out of their rut. Glad to know the Timberline isnt gone. I drove one for quite a while when I was doing research for a whole comparison article on offroad packages for seemingly non-offroad SUVs. There's no shortage of em. I was surprisingly impressed, much more than expected, with the Timberline Explorer. While I didnt give it true trail treatment, I did expose it to many seasonal roads. Anyone here in Michigan that travels seasonal roads regularly knows that because they arent maintained by the city to any capacity, a great many of them can be become nearly impassable during wet/cold seasons or inclement weather. There were times of slight struggle with the Timberline, but never too much worry of getting stuck or being incapable. It proved its worth to me. Decent offroader for a family that needs that third row. Now if only they werent so ridiculously expensive...

I heard its mostly for soccer moms who want to think they offroad. Thanks, Andre, for not attempting to hype this vehicle. You described it, and left it to the viewers to decide thumbs up or down. I'm disappointed that they have gone so long without a big update and I don't see anything here that would cause me to part with my '17, even though I'd intended to replace it after 5 years. Games on the touch screen are stupid to the point of being insulting. Bring back the rear window that opens instead, or some other feature that actually adds to the vehicle's functionality. A built-in dash cam would be an obvious improvement. If they have retained the massaging seats that is one feature that they seem to have over all competitors. Maybe I'll look more closely at the Grand Cherokee L or continue to wait patiently for the Grand Highlander Max. Despite having owned 3 Explorers I do not have blind loyalty.

Styling of this 2025 model looks a lot better than the outgoing model. It's looking like an SUV again. Unfortunately too little too late for me. I have owned a few Explorers over the years with 2005 one I owned being my favorite. I never liked the new 2006 > styling so I went to another brand. Now I'm in love with my Jeep and it's far more capable than my Explorer ever was. But then again, I guess that's not why people buy Explorers anymore. The old explorers were very capable. Towing, offroading, hauling, whatever. I did a lot with my 1999 and 2005 explorers. Probably more than I should have but it handled anything I threw at it.

@@youtubecarspottersguide1 AWD with locking diffs performs identically to "real 4WD" on loose surfaces. If you don't believe me, just try a higher trim 4Runner or GX. Low-range doesn't help with low traction, quite the opposite. Low-range is the opposite of what you want when traction limited. Low-range is useful for 2 reasons, added control for highly technical obstacles and if you need to keep revs up to spin the radiator fan faster for cooling. Modern vehicles have electric radiator fans so the second factor is a non-issue.
