It is not a joke - General Motors is really considering a comeback of the Pontiac muscle car!
Car and Driver full-cover ad sparked the discussion, although there is a disclaimer written in small print...
It is not just us - all the gear-heads are now trying to find out more info about the upcoming vehicle and the 2025 Pontiac Firebird seems like the perfect replacement for the outgoing Chevy Camaro.

I'm a great Pontiac enthusiast, I like the 4gen firebirds the most, but also GTO from then and modern. It is the feeling you can explore only in a car you don't need, but want! An early ad was "if you need a car, buy a chevy. if you want a car, buy a pontiac" ❤ Bring back these low flying "hell"birds🎉

GM owns the brand name. There is really no reason not to bring back Pontiac or Oldsmobile. Both brands made some really cool and hot cars. I would love to see them come back 😎👍

I think that Pontiac is due for a full redemption, and what I think is going to happen is you're going to see a major comeback with Pontiac with the firebird! Who knows we might see an electric firebird down the road.

1927-Pontiac is born. 2027-Marks the 100th Anniversary of Pontiac. GM has nothing in the foreseeable future to compete against Ford or Dodge as Chevrolet's plan for the Camaro is to make it a guess what?..an EV. What better to fill that gapping hole then with..oh! I don't know...A Revised Pontiac!!! We need to speak up if we want Pontiac back. This is the opportunity we need to consider. MAKE SOME NOISE!

Charger and Challenger are cancelled too, so the only muscle still being produced is Mustang... My guess is not for too long. Ford already started the transformation to the electric segment and as an SUV. They're just keeping the name alive.

A new Pontiac as a Firebird YES, but with and engine that is and improved version of Pontiacs V8 how doe's a tunnel port overhead cam Ram Air 5 sound, like a Hemi killer, if only had GM let Pontiac loose , in 1963. We would have seen overhead cam V8s than.

Dream on. There is no profitable market for any of the Big 3 to return to manufacturing muscle cars. That era was a short lived moment in time that will never be captured again. I lived it and I loved it. I sold new muscle cars in the era. Pontiacs and Chevrolets. The insurance companies and the oil conglomerates killed the muscle car. Today's buying public is too conservative and practical to give up their SUVs (modern day station wagons). I am 76 years young and my summer driver is a 2015 Chevy SS.

If they brought it back 5.3L V8 revive the 3.8L V6 in naturally aspirated and supercharged and throw in a turbo 4 in the mix have the historically bullet proof V6 as the standard engine and pair it to their 10 speed auto as standard with a reliable automatic from the past and a 6 speed manual as optional you bring back the G8 as the Bonneville or grand am/prix and some new crossovers that are unique enough to not look badge engineered. Bring back Firebird/Trans AM and a few select nameplates.

C8 Corvette ZO6 costs 150-175k 😂 GM will find a way to ruin Pontiac again with greed and alienating you and I (the core fanbase) Who is running GM now? I have zero confidence in them. Might be little too late GM, Why didn't a Pontiac Firebird make a debut back when Chevrolet had brought back the Camaro!?! It's hard understanding that when.. the two F-bodied models were virtual twins when first introduced to the masses(1967). Sometimes I wondered why major car companies stop producing their popular models to begin with or totally ruin a model (4dr. Charger?). Now, I'm told they want to make Crossover, 4dr. Sedan or SUVs with the Camaro(like Ford's Mustang)WTF!?! What Major Car Companies NEED TO DO Is..THINK BEFORE THEY START A BIG MESS & DON'T KNOW WHERE IT'S GOING!!!

I love Pontiac too. I had 4 of them, but this fake ad was created by Car & Driver to create buzz/attention FOR Car & Driver magazine that's really not doing so hot. They've gone from a monthly to a bimonthly, and the next level down is a quarterly, like Motor Trend. To answer the question of why would C & D to to all the trouble of doing this, that's why. The ad is kind of like the bellowing Orwellian screen from an extremely well known film, to give the little man behind the curtain some attention. It's getting it now, but this too shall pass. What gimmick will be next, or will they make a series out of these. Car magazines are dying out like the film industry. Everything's all over with, and no one has the guts to say it, so I just did.

Again I didn't look you up, this was KZfaq. But The Firebird isn't back. It is a Camaro with a different front end on it and that is all that it is. Also when the Firebird and the Camaro first came out anyone could afford them, only the well off can afford these fake muscle cars. And could you please tell KZfaq I don't want to see these video's, just because I look at dirt bikes doesn't mean I want to have cars that only the wealthy can afford. Tired of watch the rich play, that is why I don't watch NASCAR, football or any other sports today. A dirt bike anyone can afford if you buy chinese and get out there and ride. I know, because I do. and out run the cowardly rich people all day long.
