So what is the reason for the slide bogey on this chassis if it holds the same size container? Weight transfer?

Yes, On this model of chassis it is only for transferring the weight of the load so that you're not overweight on certain axles. usually If your heavy on the trailer, you slide backwards. And If your heavy on the truck, you slide forwards. Some models also Have a fifth wheel at the back of the chassis to make it a lead B-train. These if not properly secured can be very dangerous as the secondary trailer will disconnect from the primary.

the European trailers are better made

100%, they have better twist lock design and they use lift as well as steer axles. Plus having single tires is so much cheaper to maintain.
