So after having a right blast on the VFR800, you'll never guess what lee from Brindley Honda sorted me out with for a bit of blast on.......the all new VFR1200 DCT!
Now I really liked the VFR, despite other peoples bad reviews of it, and do feel it's one of those bikes you simply have to ride to get (I hate it when people comment on a bike they have ever ridden......stupid lol), but this one has the new all new Dual Clutch Transmission, effectively an automatic bike, with Tiptronic gears if you so desire!!
Is this the future of biking? Check it out and see what you think, I even left in my first moment of pulling away, see I'm not afraid to show when I mess up......oh hang on that's because I do it all the time!

So, here is the thing about the VFR1200F DCT (automatic).... It is NOT exclusively an automatic. It can be "Automatic" if you set it in that mode (D or S), and it does the automatic very very well. The "DRIVE" mode should be called "ECO", because that is what it is.... 6th gear going 40mph here in Texas..... and I LOVE that D mode when i want to save gas. Slip it into S "SPORT" and it is not a subtle change, it is a MONSTROUS change in the machine. Turns it into a V4 juggernaut, very much ready for track day, or the back roads twists, or even a drag race. It almost feels electric after 2nd gear, like my friend's TESLA in Ludicrous mode. The Automatic is hated by most, UNTIL they actually try it, then it all makes sense. And don't even get me started at what a benefit it is when you come over a hill and find yourself in horrible traffic. That alone is a good reason to have the automatic. Just gas and brake, as if you were in a car. NOW imagine, you are on your VFR1200F DCT and you are cruisin' in DRIVE mode (eco) and see an open stretch of road that is begging for you to hit it hard.... ALL that you must do is press the " - " or " + ", to downshift or upshift, and you let it rip. You can go through the gears up or down as needed, and the VFR1200 has rev matching technology, so there is no heavy engine drag on you when you downshift. The shifts are amazing, the power will try to rip the bars out of your hands. it is THAT powerful. And HONDA nailed it on the linked braking system with ABS. The brakes are the best I have ever experienced on any bike...... so, if the Formula 1 guys got it right, popping through the gears with their paddle shifters, up and down..... imagine a bike where you can do the same thing. Well, here it is, the VFR 1200F DCT. I test drove both the standard shift, and the DCT models. Both were amazing bikes. I had to have the DCT with the auto trans & paddle shifters. I have NOT regretted it for a moment. My other bikes are jealous of this thing. I am happy to answer any questions anyone has about this bike.

.Have you tried one yet, its very odd, but a lot of fun! Aimed more at the beginner rider than an expert, but soon, your right, they will be able to keep up. Once they get the tip tronic technology as good as they have in cars, ie when you select the gear it is instantly in etc it will defo make it onto race bikes, but that is some way off yet!

Respond to this video... Its defo getting there, but for that kind of thing you still need a clutch to give you the extreme speed stability, hence why no racers use this system yet, or it would have been put on race bikes already. Good to see you back mate!!

I like how everyone just assumes there's no need for an automatic because they would never ride one -if not for the automatic myself and many, from what I see on other sites -really want to ride them -I looove my ctx automatic and before that I had a 78 hondamatic

7:40 - Why not for a track day? It's better suited then a manual since it shifts (a lot) faster in manual mode then a normal manual clutch gearbox. Sure it's no race bike, but if you were to compare a manual to a dct VFR on a track, I'm 100% sure the DCT would be faster.

Have you ridden it mate? YOu mean engine braking? Yeah actually, you can with the tiptronic controls if you want, and as its always in gear, there is some engine breaking there!! Ps, a lot fo people agree with the ugly thing, but as there is no right or wrong only opinion in those matters, it's all in the eye of the beholder! I kinda like it in a Streethawk type way! Nice comments though lol!
@motorcycleluke
@motorcycleluke 13 жыл бұрын
@dbauernf Ps an amateur would prob go quicker to be fair yes, thinking about it, and give it time, but yeah the engine breaking and stability you get from the clutch (ie using engine braking to settle the back of the bike down down, and transfer weight to the back wheel before you turn in) would be non existent!! But in time defo!
