You can talk to 300,000 people and you can tell them not to use a service that's owned by the mafia then the mafia must not be too frightening Sure the mafia is an oppressive mob but they should understand that I complained just as bitterly about the USA government for the same reason

Tip: don't buy a sim card at Telcel near the ADO station when you come to Cancun downtown from the airport or from another town. They'll scam you into buying a sim card for 25 dollars. Instead, if you know some Spanish, walk for 5 minutes in the palacio municipal direction and enter a Telcel store there. The cost will be as little as 100 pesos or 5 dollars

@@medalits.3958 i don't recommend doing it at the airport. You can take an ado bus to Cancun and find a Banamex or BBVA bank and withdraw cash in there

Yes! Great tips and thanks for mentioning my services! Eric is the best for rental cars glad it worked out! What makes me SO MAD is that client's have called or emailed me freaking out saying someone at the airport says I'm out of business. What you said in the video is exactly what happens, they ask what company and say "ohhh they are out of business". Its so stupid and is it gives such a BAD first impression upon arrival! Great video. Yes I tell people that they will have to "run the gauntlet" at the Cancun airport. I just smile and laugh and even the high pressure sales people can see how funny it is, and laugh along with me. I was obviously getting scammed at Budget car rental even though I had booked online so I told them to go scam someone else and hired a taxi for our 4 hour trip. Had a great trip chatting with the driver. We took the bus back a few days later which was a much cheaper and simpler option.

Great info. We always go all inclusive at one of the resorts including transfers. I don't have to worry about transports, AND, they usually sell you beer on the bus for alot cheaper than the stands outside the airport. The walk through the mine field of scammers at the airport is quick and painless if you just don't engage and head outside where our transfer is clearly marked with our rep. waiting with our names on his or her list....We found the collective to be the cheapest if we ventured off resort and into a ruins or shopping trip. Excellent videos ....very informative.

Went to cancun, playa, tulum, isla mujeres, and cozumel twice last year ! We just went in December and had no problems at all! We usually stay 13 days, we had a blast! It was very safe that the ocean was magnificent ! Going back soon

Thx - great tips. Beware that some traffic violations such as speeding may not be subject to a warning. Demand a ticket. Usually 200-300 pesos.

One thing I would add to your tips about credit cards is to make sure they charge your card in pesos. When I have been in Mexico recently, they have offered to charge my card in USD, but at an inflated exchange rate that was around 10% more than the actual exchange rate.

Jordan, thank you for the Snap Car Rental recommendation. We rented a mid-size car from them the week before Christmas. Price was reasonable and all insurance was included in the quote we received. The rental car made it easy and flexible for us to visit Chichen Itza, Merida, Progreso, and to load up on groceries from Chedraui.

some other option is to rent a house for holidays, it can be way cheaper than staying in a hotel with the same amenities. There are places like puerto aventuras, puerto morelos or Tulum where you can have a great deal doing that. obviously this is for the ones with bigger families or more frequent travelers

I just came back from a 5 night 6 day stay at Villas del Palmar all inclusive, best getaway trip i've had in a long time. I paid $100 for round trip shuttle from airport to resort and the shuttle was a 2023 Chevy Suburban, 30 min drive, very worth it. Food was top gourment. amazing Cancún

$100 is a lot but for a SUV sounds reasonable. Cars are $25-40 for 30 min drive.

Bro great video! I've watch about 20 videos & by far yours has been the best (i just came back, just be careful if renting a car. There is a check point entering the hotel zone,the cops hustled me out of $20, the held my kids phone to make sure they didnt record them. I gave him $20, but almost spoiled my trip. Other than that i had a great time

I spent several months in Francisco Uh May and Macario Gomez near Tulum. you can just take the collectivo bus beside the Aki grocery store in Tulum to get to it if you don't have a car. i loved it. They have great places in the villages.

Wow! This information is awesome! Even the small restaurants in los angeles, calif. will charge a credit card transaction fee! Some have posted cash only! The credit cards such as Discover charge big fees to the businesses! That is partly why we get cash back and airline/hotel points!

In regards to car rental, Budget in Playa del Carmen (Plaza Paraíso) is running a scam. The google reviews also have many same comments about different scams. My experience and a couple others, You reserve a car and when you get there they don’t have the car available or the reservation but they just happened to have more expensive cars available for rent. Others mentioned hidden fees, being double charged, etc.

CAUTION FOR SMOKERS ! Due to very recent changes to the law (two week ago) You can only smoke in your own home. You cannot go outside a restaurant and spark one up nor can you walk along a sidewalk puffing on a ciggie. I'm not sure of all the restrictions or possible tourist exemptions but it will be best to check with your hotel or landlord.

I really enjoyed this!i owned a condo in Cancun for 8 years I laughed so hard at the shake downs happen a few times. Always carry a expired lisence in case they take yours. How is it going with the new no smoking laws? Thanks and have fun. You gave great tips

I literally got back from Cancun today and there was only one place that actually enforced the no smoking rules. Every single place we went to was non-smoking during the week we were there, and only one place told us we couldn’t.

All true. Have your airport transportation planned. I recommend All Inclusive resorts. Food and Alcohol will crush you with inflated prices. I did spend $30 on the sunscreen 😞

We were in Cancun two years ago for two weeks. We decided to opt-out of all inclusive food and alcohol. That was a bad move. Average price for lunch for two $100, dinner $200 x 14 days. That was pricey. But, Cancun had great world-class restaurants with entertainment.

@@methemonkeyking I believe it. He said he rented a car and talked about shopping around. I believe he could eat like that for even less but it would be inconvenient and use up hours of each day that could be spent having fun. Of course he lives there so time is on his side.

Cancun is a great destination however haven't visited in quite a while, mainly because of the scams and all the timeshare people - seems they are every few feet!

The scams, fines, gotchas. . .why bother?! Maybe a few decades ago, but probably not anymore. I just want to relax if I go for a trip, and not have to be so vigilant and careful about everything. I will say, my last trip in 2019, I booked an Airbnb room in a condo in Puerto Morelos, and the owners, who lived there, offered to pick me up at the CUN airport for an additional $400 MXN. After watching this video, I sure am glad she did, and that I took her up on it.

I will add, try the Tren Maya to visit ruins and other cities like Merida and Campeche. Also Cenotes are IMHO better than beaches.

Just came to say that for me the experience with American express was the least accepted anywhere, most places were like "we accept visa and mastercard but not American express". I ended up canceling that card.

Hey Jordan! Love this video. Don't miss your former co-host at all. I was the victim of an attempted federales shakedown in Playa Del Carmen. Two cops followed my friend and I down an alley by the beach late at night. They hopped out of their SUV, opened the back doors and told my friend and I to get in the back. I told him we were leaving and yelled at my friend who was being harassed by the other cop, to follow me and don't say a word. I wasn't sure if we were going to get tased or arrested, but they let us walk away without doing anything. It was an obvious attempt at a shakedown. Phew!

I would never rent a car in Mexico....too dangerous! There are money scams,and also police stopping you for no reason, then suggesting $ to get off. Just stay in Hotel Zone and walk everywhere. Thats my limit ❤ No way!!!

Cat rental “scams” are so pervasive that I don’t even consider them a scam anymore. It’s just standard business practice and I budget in what I know it’s going to cost, not what they tell me it will cost.
