One of them, and I fought against it and Governor Tomblin’s decision the whole way (it was also to appease WVU fans). It’s about VA and MD (from the artist himself and from basic geography), not WV. Our OFFICIAL state songs are “The West Virginia Hills,” “This is My West Virginia,” “West Virginia, My Home Sweet Home,” and “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

As a Wisconsinite, getting slowly worked up as the numbers increased thinking; "come on there's got to be a TV intro to play" then hearing "cheese." I find that quite acceptable.

I live in West Virginia, and Country Roads is genuinely a massive thing here. If you want to get an entire room of West Virginians singing along to a song, play Country Roads. I was both shocked and delighted when it became a meme.

As someone who grew up in the NE, but has lived in Houston for over a decade, I wasn’t familiar with Deep in the Heart of Texas until I came here. I was at the rodeo and everyone started clapping in unison during the song, while I sat dumbfounded lol

As an Alaskan I can confirm few people actually care about the midnight sun. They come for the hot springs and the moose. Unfortunately, most people leave after a week or two because of the cold. As of February 2nd, 2022, 10:19 PM it is -37°F outside our house.

Hoosier here, completely accurate song sir, Stranger's Things song is on everyone's Spotify playlist. However, corn would have also applied to us as well. Ad children we did not draw pictures of grass and tree and houses, we drew dirt roads, silos and corn fields. Yee haw
