Best tips I can give when in class is to sit in the front and be active in the lesson. If you don't understand something, challenge your teacher to explain themselves and that'll benefit you and your classmates. It's not about being the know-it-all but rather it shows that you're taking your class seriously.

Thanks for this video, Antonio. I'm an introvert, and I tend to avoid what feels like intruding or imposing on others. I find that the thing I have to work on is approaching groups of strangers. The tip you gave regarding physical space between individuals as an indicator to what kind of conversations to join into was on point. Also, I wasn't even aware about perceived weakness when lingering in boring conversations. Ironically I feel selfish if I leave a conversation when other people are in the middle of speaking. As an artist I tend to let my work do most of my talking, but that's made me complacent.Thank you so much for providing us with this free masterclass. I'd love to check it out and improve on making a pressence and commanding respect & attention.

Insert pauses: How does one handle it when someone constantly interrupts when you insert a pause? (Even very small ones.)
@probablynot1368
@probablynot1368 4 жыл бұрын
Yes! I interact with a person who CONSTANTLY does this, often hijacking the conversation to add some esoteric tidbit of knowledge, and then redirecting the conversation to fit with her agenda. I have dreaded being in meetings or conversations with her, as it takes twice the effort to get the meeting agenda, or even a basic conversation, back on track to the subject that needs addressing. I think she does this as a smokescreen to avoid receiving an assignment.

The crazy but yet normal thing in society is that if you're a loner, it's going to feel like you are stuck. I moved back to my hometown and never had much friends, the small amount of friends I had, moved out. I tried making connections at events and it's shocking to see how people react when you tell them or notice that you are by yourself, they change the way they act towards you and makes you feel like you committed a crime, as if they have all the power. It's RARE to find someone that wants to befriend a loner because most people now days don't have the courage to go to public places by themselves. So once you've reach 0 local friends, it will be ridiculously hard to get the ball rolling again.

I know I'm the outlier, but I wear a tie and jacket pretty much everywhere. Is that a faux pas? It's how I'm most comfortable, and I've been doing it since I was 16. It's my "thing", and people even identify me with it: I'm "that suit and tie guy". I know there are times it may seem a little out of place, but not as out of place as shorts and sandals at a dinner, imho. I have a casual way of wearing it, though - I'm perfectly comfortable in it, usually loosen my tie a notch and unbutton the top button, indicating "I'm serious, but relaxed". I don't do flamboyant colors or patterns, its always simple, clean, classic basics. I shouldn't ask, as there's clearly 0% chance I'm going to change this, after 30+ years. ;)
