Thank you for taking your time to explain something that would be hard to do in a fast-paced class. This isn't a quick fix, but its value is in the knowledge of it. I hope if MIsty ever sees this, that this information will help keep her injury-free and stronger when she needs it.

It's really hard to see her legs and feet with her dark clothes against the dark floor

I just discovered your channel and am slowly working through your videos. I’m a late starter to ballet and they have been really helping me understand what I never learned plus more! Thanks for providing this amazing content!

This is a bit off topic but related to injuries amongst famous ballet dancers. Why, in your opinion, do you think Mikhail Baryshnikov has needed multiple knee surgeries? Also, (and perhaps this is related to my previous questions) have you noticed in footage of Baryshnikov that many times his standing leg would be quite turned in while his working leg full turned out? I had a ballet teacher once told me he did this to maximize power his is incredible turns...Really curious what your thoughts are on this.

I am a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, and I happen to try ballet and I agree with you in everything you say. God if people would only listen!

Finally Misty will do her 32 fouettes ! Thank you Ballet Conrad to teach her how. No one at ABT could!

how can you create a straight line of the leg when your leg has a natural hyperextension? It is by nature impossible! And look at that rond de jambe par terre, her leg is constantly making zigzags passing through 1st position.

But then you do advice to separate your feet if you are hyperextended? My teacher was taught at russia during the soviet union and says it is indeed dangerous. Of course she does say turn out is the important part, but just not with your feet separated in any of the positions.

People don’t understand the commitment of being a dancer and think it’s easy!

Interesting analysis, but I became distracted during the extended lecture by the dancer standing by, fixed in place, merely an inanimate prop. Perhaps there's a more balanced way to combine the lecture and the demo.

Actually the problem also with rond de jambe par terre is that they teach tendu devant from first not in line but more crossed. In russian method they just go straight opposite first. Kostrovitskaya's book also says it. Thanx again Eric!

What is actually annoying with Copland is her exposure to media. She gets so much publicity, much of it she seeks herself, but actually her dance is really mediocre.

It seems like Misty would work on her fouette form/technique with her teachers and/or other dancers who are excellent at fouettes. Isn't that what ppl do. You're making it sound like she is willfully doing them incorrectly. Anyway, I will always remember her as the 1st black prinicple w/ABT, and, hopefully, her artistry will cover for/overshadow any poor technique.
