DM @Hayden_Domino on Instagram for 1.5 day charter leaving tomorrow night, May 5th 2023!
Hot ticket this trip was +200g vertical jigs during the night, and fly line during the day! We still recommend bringing a 50# Colt Sniper set up and a sinker rig set up as well. It helps to have multiple set ups for whatever style of fishing presents itself!
Hope you all enjoyed this video! thank you all for watching!

I used these with the Team Catfish weight slides to make a kzfaq.infoUgkxdmsDj7fQXe77DC0l7P7ua8B3PiESUubM Carolina rig and they were perfect for the ponds I fish. I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.

Late to this video, but I’m building my arsenal up right now. I have a good 25-40lb setup(preferably on the lower end but can use in a pinch). Flylining and even casting topwater depending on what’s good. What would you recommend for my next setup(s) in prep for overnight-multi day? Should I go for a heavier setup to have for the night bite I could also go a little lighter with if need be? Or should I go for a 50-60lb setup? Love your channel man

I believe that you will use the lighter rigs more often than your 100lb rig. Go with the next step up or so with a reel spooled with 50lb or 60 lb and you can use it for jigs as well as fly lining(big boys around). Put this on a 30lb-60lb rated rod (Phenix, Okuma ) and you should be good.

@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers Жыл бұрын
Hey sorry for the late reply, just seeing this! For the 200g - 280g jigs, I like 6/0 assist hooks And for +300g jigs, I like 7/0 assist hooks. Split rings, anything from size 8 rated 120# up to size 10 rated 200#

Hi ray what’s your thoughts on the ringed style circle or j hooks for the live bait
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers Жыл бұрын
A lot of people use the ringed live bait hooks, and it actually does help the bait swim a little better, but I personally just prefer the plain hook with no rings. Just personal preference really.

Second question: what is your technique(s) on the 80-120 grams for day-time fishing? Also - what is recommended rod/reel and line recommendations?
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers Жыл бұрын
For day time jig fishing, 40-60 lb test. Your choice if you want to go braid straight to a flouro leader or a top shot of mono, everyone has their own preferred way of rigging. For bluefin you want your line as vertical as possible. Drop to the depth captain said they’re at, focus in that zone. Freespool, retrieve, repeat
@socalfishincrew5410
@socalfishincrew5410 11 ай бұрын
For knife jigs and flat falls at night how long of a top shot should you have would a short 15 feet be good enough? And do you need to have floro on the top shot or just mono is fine?
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers 11 ай бұрын
It’s all personal preference. If I were to do a mono topshot, I’d run about 25 feet of 80 or 100lb top shot, to a 2ft crimp leader of 130 - 200lb flouro. Last time I went out I ran straight braid to a 6ft leader of 130 flouro, because I didn’t have 80 or 100lb mono

Nice bluefin man! I am just getting into fishing for yellows and came up with a setup for kind of an all purpose yellowtail outfit. I’m going for the tri helix 807 or 907 15-40 for fly line and torium 16. I will use this for big bonito and yellowtail fly line and occasional irons. Any opinions or tips or suggestions regarding this setup are appreciated.
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers Жыл бұрын
Probably they 8’ for an all around. You’ll still be able to cast on there, and it’ll be more effective fly lining with 8ft than a 9ft

Question: are fishing braid to flouro or mono on top of braid and then fluro?
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers Жыл бұрын
So everyone has their personal preference. I personally like about 25-30 feet of 80-100 lb mono before my bite leader. It’ll give a little bit of stretch and help be a little bit more forgiving while fighting the fish.
@michaelniemiec5235
@michaelniemiec5235 Жыл бұрын
@@Dirty.Hookers I have seen that move - I am now a fan of wind-in’s either flouro or mono in #60-100- less connections - great smooth knot - more stealthy during the day I think too. I am not sure you get a lot of stretch from #100 mono but I just want connections
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers Жыл бұрын
@@michaelniemiec5235 it’s definitely not gonna stretch as much as like 50# and less, but mono still stretches making it at least a little more forgiving. Braid to a fluoro leader is as stiff as it gets, so having at least a little mono will help a little bit

I just flew down from Nor Cal on my first San Diego Bluefin Trip and I’m hooked now (no pun intended). I used rental rod/reel setups but what is a nice intermediate setup to have?
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers Жыл бұрын
Fly line set up is the most important one to have while fishing offshore. The 100# set ups for the night time fishing, just stick with the rental rods for now because those are super expensive.
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers Жыл бұрын
For a fly line set up, I would recommend a shimano Torium 20 spooled up with 65lb braid, leave enough room for about a 100 yard top shot of 30# mono. Paired with a Turners California rod. Something rated in the 20-40 or 20-50 lb range. That would be the most cost efficient, but still super nice set up you can get. And you’ll probably be able to fish it forever!
@edwarren690

Is it an absolute must to upgrade the hooks on these knife jigs?
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers 11 ай бұрын
A lot of knife jigs come without any hooks because everyone has a personal preference on how to rig. But the ones that come rigged, usually can handle bluefin. As long as the assist hooks are 5/0 and up you should be okay. Type of hooks and how many on top or bottom comes down to each individual
