A suggestion for system comparisons... Play two or three positions with each position playing a different system. Deal one hand that all positions play off of. That way the one hand remains the constant and each system affects its own bankroll. In the end, the system comparison will be from the same cards played, same win/loss order. Really enjoy your videos.

You know what? Alex getting kind of giggly and stuff when the player loses is kind of ingenious. It keeps the mood light and I feel like it makes the player a little less somber at a loss. Also really good for the flow of the game -- keeps things moving smoothly, I'd say. Now *that's* customer service 😂😂

The way I learned this system was to bet 2 units first. If it wins regress to 1 unit. If that wins go to 2 units. Then after every win add 1 unit. When you lose start over with 2 units.

There's only one way to find out if a system truly has merit and will work over time. You need a very large sample. Just like the family who beat roulette by recording numbers. They said it became crystal clear what numbers were hot when they got up to 30,000 spins. The same with this one. Play 30,000 hands and then see if you're ahead. Even a few dollars up and you have a valid working system.

So as far as odds go your correct never split 10s. Bit in the real world take advantage of dealers bad up card whenever possible. Bet big when you ha e the advantage. It's the only way for a long term player to stay ahead. If all you ever do is play basic you will never really win. I mea. Jesus the casinos tell you to play that way. It's like uh duh. 16 vs. 10 is surrender. I’m a card counter, I work as a pit boss and been in the casino industry for 20 years. Major problem I see with systems is people ignore house edge. Couldn’t tell you how many dice setters waste their money betting hard ways, and any craps on the come out roll. If you wanna make money in the casino you need to bet as small as possible when the casino has the advantage and as much as your bankroll can handle when you have the edge. Systems like this sell because they seem good at the moment and are played by people who don’t truly understand what’s happening and are ignoring math.

Hey guys. Thanks for this.I do have one question. We all hope the dealer has a 6 showing because it has such a high probability of busting. Why then would we take a hit on a hard 16 against anything with such a high probability of busting? What am I missing?
@johnurseth7429
@johnurseth7429 4 жыл бұрын
Dennis Woods mathematically, hit it. Whatever you decide though, stick to the same system. Same with hitting 12 against a dealers busy card. You have good odds you won’t bust and will take a low card from the dealer so some people hit it. But still, whatever you do you have better odds sticking to the same system rather than guessing
@Devedander
@Devedander 4 жыл бұрын
Dennis Woods you hit the 16 against a 7 or higher because basic strategy is to assume the dealer has a 10 under. If they do you are already beat so you are drawing to try and eek something out. The dealer won't have a 10 every time and you won't bust every time. The number of cards that don't bust you against the odds the dealer doesn't have a 10 end up being slightly in favor of hitting.
@denniswoods3909
@denniswoods3909 4 жыл бұрын
@@Devedander Good morning. Thanks for your reply. I did my own little "research" project, and watched 225 BJ deals. I admit it's a very small sample size but of those 225 hands, the dealer had a 10 under 71 times and something other than a 10 154 times. Certainly, I'm open to the idea that a sample size of 1000's and 1000's of hands may prove that wrong. If, on the other hand, a much larger sample size showed similar results it would sure throw a wrench into the decision making thought process. I've used basic strategy with the exception of the hard 16 I mentioned. I just have a hard time hitting when the likelihood of busting seems so high.
@Devedander
@Devedander 4 жыл бұрын
Dennis Woods remember it's not entirely based on the dealer having a ten. Just a high likelihood of it. When hitting a 16 A-5 helps and 6-k busts. While slightly more cards bust you than help they are offset by the number of times your are already beaten by the dealer so have to hit or just resign a lost position. Arguably the ratio is very close on this situation and it's one of the worst to be in as your making close to a coin flip odds decision

Don't double down when you have an 11 against a ten? I've never seen a basic strategy chart showing to do that. Plus hitting a 13 against a 2 or 3? The player says you can go either way. No you can't. One of the ways is always going to be slightly better mathematically.

Christopher Johnston most of the time yes. Higher speed = more hands per hour. Which means more money/hr for the casino (house always has the edge). Also it throws off novice card counters and encourages new players to make strategy errors

@@chavaa5949 There are actually two ways to bet. We would have the money player on first base and he would flat bet. Three players at the table from center field to third base would attempt to control the count by violating basic strategy to manipulate the count. Of course the standard method of betting is betting more when there is a plus count and the table minimum when the count is minus and adjusting for the true count.. We were hole carders and that changes everything. The book 'Heat in the Vegas Night' will show how a group used a mirror to see the dealers hole card for five years.

@@garyryan7852WR One example of the right time: Doubling down when the dealer has a 6 showing, and you have a total of 11. In a 2-deck shoe game the expected value for this play is $0.687. Only hitting instead of doubling gives you an expected value of just $0.343. I could list dozens and dozens of other examples. Doubling is very often a good bet. If you worked for "22 years in gaming" then obviously you must know this. If one never doubled in blackjack, blackjack's house advantage would be much, MUCH greater than it is. Visit the Blackjack Hand Calculator over at the Wizard's website for other examples, that you can verify for yourself. Or, alternately, visit the Blackjack Basic Strategy Engine Charts over at Blackjack Info site. They also list when it's proper to double.

@@garyryan7852WR Good grief. Even when Edward O. Thorpe wrote "Beat The Dealer" (a New York Times bestseller) way back in the '60s, it was known that doubling at the proper time was advantageous to the player. His book points it out too, like all of the other dozens and dozens of blackjack books ever published since then. You can determine for yourself how advantageous it is. Write a little Excel VBA program yourself to simulate the game. Have the program keep track of your winnings when you double with a 10 or an 11 (and the dealer has a bad upcard), and then when you don't double with that same hand. Run the simulation for as little as a few thousand hands. You will see the results for yourself. But there is no need. There are dozens of books that have been published, and blackjack websites that have done all of that for you. (I pointed out two such websites earlier.) But you're saying all of these books and websites that offer those Basic Strategy charts are all wrong??? One should NEVER ever double...simply because... the casino allows it? The casino allows you to hit too, for a chance to improve your hand. So you should never hit because the casino allows it? In Ultimate Texas Hold'em one should NEVER raise their bet... because the casino allows it? If the remaining cards are ten-rich it can be advantageous to take insurance when offered. But one should never do that under those circumstances... because the casino allows it? Double on 11 and you're going to get an ace more than any other card? Seriously? That's ridiculous. The fact is, all of the remaining cards in the deck have the same probability of being dealt. There is no mystical force at work that says aces are received more often when a player doubles on 11. I'm curious... what card do you think a player receives most often when a player doubles with a total of 10? Is it also an ace? (Answer: Again, all of the undealt cards in the deck have the same probability of being dealt.) Congratulations. Never doubling in blackjack has got to be the most ridiculous claim I've ever seen. And you're only data to back it up is that you say you were living it for 20 years. I think the rest of us will stick with the math. Thanks.
