DiMeo, a New Jersey resident, underwent the groundbreaking procedure in August after sustaining burns over 80% of his body in a devastating car crash in 2018. While DiMeo faces a lifetime of medication to prevent transplant rejection, experts at NYU Langone, where the surgery was performed, have deemed it a success.
