MIlitary service is not confirmed. Duration could be shorter such as 4 weeks like footballer Son did. Now that the election is over, the proposed legislation that might exempt them will be considered again. They may of course go all together regardless of length of time. Their contract goes to 2026 and so there is no doubt a plan about military service if they do have to go including early content production. We still are holding our collective breaths.

@@nomalizombangeni5108 No they are not retiring at this time. All Korean men must server a term in the military in South Korea no later than the age of 28. This was extended to 30 for BTS, who met the criteria for extension. Jin turns 30 in December 2022. Suga in March 2023. There is legislation proposed to exempt them as they have exemplified and promoted Korean culture, bring 3+ Billion into the Korean economy every year and given that idol careers last only a finite amount of time and during the same age period. Athletes and other cultural icons are exempted regularly. For Koreans, service in the military is very important and respected but many consider BTS worthy of exemption. Many have speculated that BTS will all serve together at one time and that they will have a reduced length of service. The new government has much on its agenda including this which is important no doubt given the economic/cultural value of BTS.
