I really want to do this to my 323ci, I would love an English series on this, over the next 12months or so we intend to start a Motorsport based youth project at our church. So to learn stuff like this and show our youth that they can learn to do stuff themselves would be awesome

This also works for M54B25 as well. With M54B30 injectors and MS45.1 engine control you can run E85 easily.

Brilliant!! I have a e46 touring 323. I did the M54 B30 swap with the USA "s52" intake came and a aggressive exhaust port on a M52Tu head. ( I think the m25 tu is a better head) But I have been doing a lot of tuning with the Ms 42 DME. It's very very similar to the ms43 that everyone seems to love so much. I really only found a handful of little differences in maps. I would understand the most confusing thing for everybody is that all the acronyms are in German. So where is the ms-43 would say something like inj cyl 1.. The ms42 would say KF_Z_1 and they are the same map but the ms42 kept it in German saying kugelfischer cylinder 1. I found it very important to match the intake manifold size volumes in the map and airflow section. And of course the Lambda value sections And as far as the throttle bodies are concerned I would not worry too much if you measure at the for the narrowest portion of the 3 liter intake manifold throttle body is 2.7 in and the TU is 2.6in. By mistake when rebuilding my engine I ordered the M54B30 throttle body gasket and they were practically identical. Yessir the 3 liter air mass meter is much much larger but then it comes down to almost the exact same size at the throttle body. Yes the three liter air mass meter will handle up to 1200 mg per stroke. And the 2.5 liter air mass meter will handle up to 800 mg per stroke. But the M54 B30 at Full Throttle is about 600 mg per stroke. So even then you're not really gaining much by changing air mass meters.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am on a similar road since i recently upgraded my 328ci with B30 intake, B30 cam, headers and for some reason i just changed to B30 injectors. I already played around and got familiar with RR and RR logger, added nice pops and bangs and stuff and of course i have seen your post about the LC :) Next thing will be remapping, the car runs fine and definately has decent power but from my logs and buttdyno i feel that there is still quite a bit potential to squeeze. Thanks man! So, upcoming Friday we will take a m54b25 to the dyno for the initial run. After that, we will replace the intake mani and camshaft with b30 parts. We will film everything, including my way to do the remapping (logging + tips+tricks on vanos tuning, combined with DISA). Stay tuned and thanks again!

m54b30 airbox is also quite a bit less restrictive than the one on a m52b28 or m52b25

I actually done it kept the injectors from the b30. Inlet manifold from b30. Throttle body and intakeboot and maf. I haven’t changed the ecu to b30 it’s currently running on a performance map for the m54b25 that was already making 208hp but at the moment she has loads more torque and much more to give at top end she just needs another map!

These are good reliable mods, however to say you can do it for 200 euros is unrealistic. The B30 Camshaft alone will cost that much, the manifold, adapter plate and a new set of gaskets about the same again. You'll probably need various new parts like a new CCV and possibly new intake boot as well as these all get brittle with age and break easily on removal. Add another 100 bucks. Most people will need their remap doing professionally. Probably 400+ bucks. I'm not saying I wouldn't do these mods, but people need to be aware realistically how much it is going to cost because it may end up quicker an easier just swapping in a 330i engine.

So i have a 03 325xi m54b2.5 Ive invested much 2 keep it going so im stuck wit it.. i want to do unequal length headers.. they dont make em, so my idea is run a header an a stock manifold to create the subaru sound.. dont care about gains.. atleast frum that.. i want low/mid range power nore than ne thing.. hard 2 achieve it seem.. im determine 2 not go turbo or s charger.. it is only my daily.. i jus want to improve the comfy 5speed fun of this vehicle an make it sound better.. that sweet bimmer noise wit some subaru sound.. an jus enjoy driving like i stole it everyday.. ive had fast hondas over my time.. but i love this car an have way 2 much on it.. to part.. but on low budget.. wish 2 achieve gains.. nos isnt wanted much but laterdays may do a 75 shot.. but really i want low mid power so i guess more torq.. please help!! Advice appreciated ty

nice job man, I have a question hope you can help me, I have a m52TU b23 engine, I want to make a b30 stroker, the harness that I have comes from an m54, the question is ... can I use the m54 harness for the ecu s42? ... another question is ... with the m54 harness and the ecu s42 will work the throttle body of the b30 m54? somehow the ecu s42 will work the throttle body of m54?
