In todays video we take a look at the lift capacity of the RK 24 Subcompact Tractor, There is always a lot of discussion about lift capacity and specs, I like to just show how things are used in real world applications.

Great video Mike. For someone like me who is new to tractor ownership, I really find these videos helpful, not only for loader specs but for watching how smooth you operate ALL your equipment I've watched you use. That's the main things I pick up on. I love the fact that I can climb on my JD1025r and accomplish in a few hours what would normally take me a week or two in the past. I helped out a neighbor the other day with a little drainage problem and saved him a lot of back breaking work and I got a lot of enjoyment out that.

I've got the same model of tractor. I had a guy tell me that "I wasn't going to clear my property with that". My wife and I sit in amazement a few months later looking at the nice area that we cleared using it. It might have took a little bit longer, but we aren't in any big hurry.

Nice explanation. I had a Stoll FEL attached to a 1720 New Holland. The bucket held 1/3 of a cu yard. It would lift a heaping load of rock dust that would put it in the 1000# plus bucket weight range. I always figured 3000 pounds per yard. Close enough for me. Great job.

I have a rk-24 and I religiously move #57 limestone as well as removing a high bank of clay soil on my pond. Its easier to manage having a tiller or the backhoe hooked to the tractor but I have used it many times without a ballast and have had zero issues moving a full bucket. I have verified with a scale that I can pick up a cabinet weighing in at 1,076 pounds using the bucket and ratchet straps to lift with, and the tractor laughs at this load and asks for more. tonight I am going to attempt to move small square bales of hay which I haven't done yet but I bet that won't be a issue either. Ive had this tractor for over a year now and have put 180 hours on it and it just does what ever I want

I have a Kubota BX25D. In fact, this is my second Kubota. I like it really well, but there are a few things on the RK I wish I had, particularly the auto-throttle. I don't know what my lift capacity is, but its certainly not near 900lbs. Maybe close to 750? I use mine 95% for mowing. Would like to see the RK with the belly mower. Great video as always. One thing that I'll never understand is the "urinating contest" that some people have regarding equipment. Seriously... RK, John Deere, Mahindra, Kubota, etc. all make good equipment that only helps the owner(s) of said equipment. I happen to own a John Deere 1025R that is pretty much the same as your RK24. Both machines will do a bunch of work and make our lives easier. Who cares if your RK or my JD can lift a few more pounds? (I didn't bother to look up specs.). The thing is, they both do work that saves us manual labor. They are both (along with every other manufacturer) very good machines. I know that we all will push our machines at times to the fullest extent, but I seriously doubt that anyone is going to use their machine to the fullest capacity as far as lifting, moving, etc.,... at least not constantly. Doing so is pretty much abuse rather than operating responsibly (in my opinion). The bottom line is if the tool does the job it's a good tool. It doesn't matter what color it is or who the manufacturer is.

You are right, it doesnt matter how much weight you had. All it matters is that you couldn't fit anymore rock in that bucket...so why would you need it to lift more than that anyway?? because you couldnt have filled it with more weight anyways due to capacity.

Thanks again.
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 2 жыл бұрын
That's about what the Kubota BX will do if you have proper ballast....it gets way too light in the back end far sooner than you run out of lift capacity. In your case you are pretty well set having the backhoe on there its pretty heavy and shouldn't give any issues for lift capacity. The other issue is you'll run out of traction sooner than lift capacity usually as well. I was moving buckets of reject sand a while back and quickly found I needed my roto-tiller for rear ballast as the box blade wasn't enough. The BX will list quite a bit, but not if you aren't properly ballasted for the job. Reject sand is kind of like that 2A limestone....it has up to 2 inch rocks down to sand and dirt. It works great for a base because it packs really well. I bought a sub-compact tractor because I only have an acre and I'm limited in space and access...the sub-compact made a lot of sense for my needs. I could also use it as a very expensive lawnmower if I bought a mower deck LOL. Bought it mostly for loader, roto-tiller, and box blade work. So far its been getting quite the workout.

Ok Mike... you've opened Pandora's box...! Man loader capacity is a huge topic. You're demo was great but one problem... that RK24 looked like it wasn't even sweating to lift that rock to max height! Very impressive! I would recommend you use your pallet forks and add known weight until the loader hydraulics actually relief out at or near max height. Then show us that with each RK tractor. I know that may be putsy but man I'm telling you that video would get a crazy # of views! Just an idea and thanks for your great content!!

I know my RK55 will lift a LOT more than it should be able to. Even with a cab, rimguard in both rear wheels, and a rear ballast box (1200lbs) it can lift the rear end if overloaded. Plenty of lift capacity for anyone's needs in the 50-60hp range. Great tractor.

Hello Mr Morgan! If you would like to see how much the rk24 will actually lift, then check out this video of Messicks Kubota...he buried a car tire 8ft deep and tied a chain to it and the opposite end hooks to the tractor bucket. There's a small digital guage, that registers the lift capacity, that's connected between the bucket and the chain. Its actually a very neat idea to measure lift capacity in real time numbers...and very simple to put together. I wish all tractor dealers would set up something like this at their sales lot...it would certainly make the decision to buy a tractor a whole lot easier. I love tractors period..all the different brands, but I'm debating on a Mahindra 1626 or RK tractor (if they make a 30hp unit)...just haven't decided on which one yet. Check out this video clip and let me know if you decide to do something like that...I'm very interested in lift numbers on your rk24 and the next size up one you have. Here's the video link.... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMCidal9na3Fh6c.html Thank you and God bless you and yours! Don Miller

I just crossed the 50 hour mark in my RK24 and something is wrong with the engine. Even at full throttle it won't get to the PTO mark on the tach. Not it sounds like a broken piston rod. I took it back to the dealer and they had to ship it off somewhere else. That was like 2 weeks ago. Now I'm missing jobs. I'm not sure what is wrong with my tractor but I sure wish I had it back. Also after getting the third function installed it seems only one piston on my loader works.

Mike, I notice that you seem to use the RK 24 more than the other tractors. Does it come with a covered cab?

Whether at the pivot pin or 24" in front of the pivot pin, Kubota is generally rated with the lowest lifting capacities for each frame size or HP compared to other brands. I've heard it's not so much a hydraulic/loader issue, but rather because Kubota has lighter/weaker front axles on their compact tractors compared to similar size tractors from other brands.

Definitely not scientific but the point is it will do more than is required of such a small tractor, job well done Mike!

To me whatever tractor you buy it’s going to lift whatever you can load into the bucket( dirt, rock). Now I know if you have a grapple on it yes you can over load it by trying to lift logs bigger than you know you should

Don't know what Name you decided for the RK55, but I'd call this little guy PEPPY as he's pretty stout

I’m a Harry homeowner , I don’t farm , no cows, chickens or goats . I’m looking for a tractor to do my two acres of yard work , I like flower beds and gravel driveways . This video is perfect for me , most people that talk about capacity of a bucket , who cares , so it holds 10 lbs , other tractors that size holds 12 lbs . Yu do a little more time , for the price , I’m in . But heck I could buy a front end loader to pick up the whole pile , point is , will it lift high enough for a dump trailer ?
