Many hunters likely don’t know much about the .224 Valkyrie. This is perfectly understandable because it’s a relatively new cartridge and Federal didn’t officially unveil it until the 2018 SHOT Show. Even so, the 224 Valkyrie has received a lot of coverage in the media and is extremely popular in some circles.
Not surprisingly, while some people absolutely love the cartridge (and we’ll discuss why in a minute), others are skeptical that the .224 Valkyrie is either the latest flavor of the week or the answer to a non-existent problem.
In this article, I’m going to cut through the hype in order to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the .224 Valkyrie cartridge in detail. I’ll also provide some information on how it stacks up next to the .223 Remington and 22 Nosler cartridges so you can decide if it fits your needs as a hunter.

At the time you merchandise 224 was available because it wasn't used much. But now that this caliber has taken off so has the production. And you haven't seen anything yet. New higher performance 224 is on its way and all 6.5 people can go ahead and get nervous.

I have An at in .224 Valerie and now I have bolt gun in the same. I am thrilled to get a bolt gun in one.

I’ve had a. Valkyrie since its inception. Have a Bison Armory 1:6.5 twist 22” barrel. It’s in love with the 80 grain bullets from Sierra and Hornady. I print .35” groups with my handloads all day. The Barnes 78 grain TSX Valkyrie bullet gives me sub .75” groups with my loads. I’m working on the 90 and 95 grain Sierras atm. I’m getting .75” groups but know it can be better and most of the issue is the shooter and not the gun or cartridge. I’m a huge huge fan of the Valkyrie and will continue to be.
