That was real interesting video. Good to see some of the controlled lowering of branches, I prefer to hear the crash of wood hitting the floor, but when near houses and cars you got to be careful. Thanks again. Chris TheRuralProject

Haha yeah we all like to hear the sound but don’t want to deal with the mess afterwards! Lowering the branches provides a lot more control and minimal cleanup!

Yeah but of course the big companies wont give us chippers with winches when so many of these smaller companies get equipment that helps with the process

How well does the hooklift truck work for logs? Is the dump angle steep enough?

It works great, when you want to dump the hook lift mechanism locks in place and dumps like a normal truck

I understand the high fuel prices... heartbreaking to see all that fine stove 🪵 go to the dump though.

Fuel prices adds to the problem but logistically it just didn’t make sense to save it. About 37 miles one way to get it from the job back to the woodyard.

outside of the monetary aspect of purchasing a grapple truck why would you chip the limbs and not just load them?

I have been in the tree removal business for about 10 years and chippers for me make absolutely no sense. Extremely dangerous, time consuming, and not very courteous to neighbors to say the least.

I can fit a lot more limbs in the truck as woodchips compared to whole. I can also dump woodchips easily at various locations. Nobody wants a load of limb wood.
