john you should rent out a small part of your shop to keen mg restorers....then charge for your time and parts....they'd come out not only with a classic restoration but a greater idea of how it all works...great vid....really enjoyed it

What would get damaged if someone connects battery positive to ground? My newly acquired 1972 MGB had a new battery, but it was installed backwards. Alternator is an ACR type, like the 16 ACR in part 1 vid. It has the two plug set up. Oh, and dashboard red light is on ( of course ) due to backwards battery. Car starts and runs great, but battery is discharging. Great vids!!

Presuming that you haven't found out yet. Most likely the regulator has failed, it's also possible that the diode pack has also failed. If there is a surge protection diode it's probably failed too. Solid state devices don't survive having the power connected backwards, which is what happens when the battery was installed backwards. If you radio was on when it was done it will be ruined too.

What alternator would you recommend for converting a 66 MGB from a generator? I realize I’ll need to do the negative ground conversion as well.

Thank you for your video, i followed your instruction to have a complete rebuild (bearings + diode board + rectifier), after having mounted on the car i measured voltage and i had a 25 v reading at alternator poles... What appened? may i inverted some wires from stator? Thank you so much for your reply.
