227 + 9003 At Belfast Central / Lanyon Place & Adelaide

On Monday 12th April a Enterprise De Dietrich Set re entered service in order for driver training / refreshers to take place as the trains are due to return to daily day to day use very soon. The DD's were temporarily withdrawn in January due to another drop in passenger numbers and a timetable reduction as a result of covid restrictions.
On Tuesday 13th April we see IE 201 Class Loco 227 & DD Set 9003 at Belfast Central / Lanyon Place working the 11:20 service from Dublin & 14:05 to Dublin then we see the train passing Adelaide later in the day while working the 16:50 from Dublin.
The set has been allocated to work the following services.
Ex Belfast Ex Dublin
08:05 & 14:05 11:20 & 16:50
(These driver training workings are due to operate until Friday 16th April)

its time they were binned,they"ve had a good innings & hopefully something more modern looking comes along soon,this country north & south is way behind the times when it comes to rail infrastructure,in this day & age all mainlines should be electrified

There is plans for the De Dietrichs to be replaced however this isn't happening until 2026. At this moment in time these trains are perfectly fine for the job they do. It is also believed that there is plans for electrification of the line but this will take a number of years to achieve. Yes change is coming but it's still several years away
