As a wings fan I’ve always liked Laine, he does this a lot when he recognizes good play, great goal scorer as well.

Mixed feelings on this team. Offense looked good today, and I liked that 3rd line. Petry is getting beat a lot. Copp makes a nice steal just to thoughtlessly give it back away for a goal. Hopefully this starts another streak for the Cat. & Lyon should get the next start. But a win, is a win, thanks awood!

At this point is there any trust to start Lyon after not playing him in a game since October 5th, 2023? That would be 6 weeks between competitive hockey games if they were to start him on November 16, 2023 in Sweden. Despite how Husso has played lately he would still give them a better chance to win in Sweden than Alex Lyon would.

Petry looked off BEFORE that huge slash the refs missed. I wonder if he was sick or just had an off game. He has lost a step or two, but usually doesn't f-up twice like he did. That pass off the boards to set up the goal made up for one of his flubs I Guess. Was Gotts non existent in this game or was it just me?

I don’t understand the Petry hate when Holl is skating in cement. Holl looks even worse live than on tv. He shouldn’t be playing over Edvinsson. At least Petry makes strong offensive plays like that pass to Cat

Were never gunna get far with husso in net. He lets in a minimum of 4 goals every time he plays. I hope yzerman figures out a trade for him or somthing kuz if we had a good goalie we would be real contenders this year

Kostin is a tank. Blocks shots and lays the body. Heavy on the forecheck. Should be on the PK and needs more 5 on 5 ice time

That Fantilli goal that tied up the game at 2-2 is WHY I wanted Yzerman to make a bold and daring move on draft day to get the #2 pick. Nate Danielson is a fine pick, but Fantilli is something else. Go Wings! Thanks, awood.

I get what you mean, but Columbus would have never traded that pick. This is not EA NHL, where you send two first rounders and Berggren for a 2 OA. This would have cost A LOT

It’s an atrocity that Daniel Sprong is averaging 12 minutes a night. He’s a player and one of the most consistent catalysts on offense. Newsy needs to give him more ice.

Yeah, the defense is not helping, but you can´t let in more than 3 goals per game. Some of the goals each game were very soft.

Both guys make amazing saves and then let in a wrist shot from 70 ft.

None of those goals were real stinkers. Husso had a strong game. Laine's shot was deadly spot on. You can't let an elite player set up alone like, have a cup of coffee, and then take a shot. The other distance goal was because of that monster forward Columbus has! Teams are coming through the neutral zone too easily, and then getting 2, 3, 4 shots on goal?!?! I don't care who your goalie is, can't do that in the NHL or any pro league.

@TterribleTexasTJ people are blaming the defense. Hussos save percentage is awful, and 3 of the goals were wristers from the slot through him. He looks awful.

Has anyone noticed that Detroit had 3 skaters and Columbus had 4 skaters in the camera view right before Laine scored after a penalty expired that returned the play to 5 on 5? What was Veleno doing? Did Fabbri even attempt to get back in the play after his penalty expired? Why did Copp make that clearing attempt? That was a series of bad decision making.

Copp isn’t as good of a two way forward as Wings staff and broadcasters tout him to be. He makes a lot of turnovers and stalls transition offense often.

Thanks for this awood! We have got to tighten up the play on the D zone and goaltending. Absolutely the worst part of our game and it was evident in this one. Glad to get the W!

The wings do not keep pucks to the outside. It’s why are goaltenders all have mid numbers. They give up way too many quality chances

Husso had a strong game but it seems a lot of fans are bashing him for allowing 4 goals. Like I always told my son, a goalie, "They got past 5 of your teammates before they got past you!" Yes, the goalie is the last line of defense, but not after the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th SOG in the same entry/possession FFS! Also, there was little to no control through the neutral zone, Columbus entered the offensive zone to easily. And what the @$%&**&^ happened to the PP? Raymond was saucy as hell, Larkin is obviously not 100%, and Fabbs needs to not be blocking shots FFS!

I’m glad we won but goaltending looks AWFUL. We gotta make a move if we’re gonna be a contender. We have the goal scoring to do something. But we could use another good d man or 2 and we really need better goaltending
