Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could kzfaq.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

I had the first gen Antares DC and it was an awesome reel with a cool sound. It really helped me become proficient casting a bait caster. After awhile though, the coolness wore off and I found I didn't need the training wheels anymore.

My favorite aspect of the older anteres is the lack of the spool tensioner knob. With super perfect bakes who needs a spool tension knob

It would be nice if this reel also has the X mode and also the XB. X mode for throwing your regular tackle further and then XB is for the big baits

On a regular basis 5oz max. The best range is 2-4. Perfect for TK and K9.

idc 4 got 4 brake setting idc 5 got 5 brake setting(4 step + wind mode) + line mode idc 4x8 got 8 brake setting + line mode

Idc 5 is better, dont buy this reel its overpriced without much improvement
