Lazy Takumi The old IDI Mercedes diesels, notably the OM series can rev to 7k+.

My dad used to a 2003 1.5 Megane. Only had 82 bhp on paper but with the torque it had bollocks. Used to do 40 degree gradients fully loaded with music equipment. Great sound too.

Dden Dden I still don't get this comment from people saying this each time they see a diesel blowing out allot of black soot. A diesel engine is much better for the environment and ozone layer than a petrol engine, especially much better than high performance petrol engines. The black soot you see coming out of diesel vehicles best fall back down to earth as a black powdery substance while petrol fumes go up into the atmosphere

Dean Grimsell Wrong! The main substance emited by petrol engines is carbon dioxide while diesel engines produces lots more of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide witch may cause respiratory deseases, lung cancer and acid rain when this gases reach the clouds. In fact, a report made by an evironmental institute in Spain, said that Diesel is 4 times more pollutant than petrol. (Sorry for my bad english)

alex 57030 Fact: No it is most certainly not. The automotive industry want's us to believe that diesel engines are more economical and are less hazardous so they can continue to sell more *(cough, cough, Volkswagen),* especially in Europe where diesel is the more popular choice. But people who make a living analysing emissions and environmental pollution say that Diesels are far worse to the climate than a Petrol engine is.. Who are you gonna believe? The people that are trying to capitalise on their sales, or the people who are trying to help the world? Obvious answer.

This is everything but valid. Diesel less economical than petrol? What are you even doing here on youtube commenting on car videos? Go do your homework, kid. Also, the hazard brought forth by a type of exhaust fume is not determined through just one parameter. There's a lot of aspects you can look at. Unignited fuel remains/hydrocarbons, CO2, NO2 and all its variants, Sulfur components etc. Those analysts of yours I'd really like to have a word with. Do you actually believe those people trying to make a living are not employed by some enterprise that's trying to boost their sales through their own beneficial claims? You can't just say "petrol is better for the environment than diesel" nor vice versa because danger inflicted by these exhaust gases to the environment isn't composed of 1 single factor, and all the parameters mentioned above are harmful to the environment in different ways. Alex's point was correct though. The black stuff is sooner or later reincorporated into fresh biomass while the leftover hydrocarbons produced by a petrol engine kill biomass. Don't think I'm making all this up here, I've been specialising in environmental biochemistry for over three years now and still going.

MrPikapka that's quite fun to hear that! Here in France diesel cars are everywhere (maybe a little less these last 10 years) But I'd say that today there's still something like 70 percent of cars that are diesel. I have learned to drive with a diesel car and I still drive diesel cars most of the time. They consume less and diesel costs less than gasoline

Those 2.4L i5l Alfa sound awesome and they are quite good engines, too bad usually electrics on those cars are CRAP :) Now, where are those 3L BMW engines?

Diesel-Power for Life! No E-Mobility! All of these cars can comfortable run more 600 Km with only one tank filling. An E-Golf can slowly run 70 Km, and than you have to wait one night charging for the next 70 Km. A Diesel Car is refueled in one minute.... E-Mobility is unusable nonsense!
