Enjoyed this podcast very much. You have such a calm demeanor. I also liked how you kept the pattern info and pictures on the screen while you talked about them. Most podcasters just flash them. Lots of beautiful ideas. Thank you. ❤

This episode of yours from 4 months ago popped up in my feed just yesterday, and I am so intrigued 😊 So many patterns off the beaten track, and very interesting patterns, too. I watch a lot of knitting podcasts, and yours is a beautiful find for me. Thank you very much for taking the effort. I am binging the rest of your episodes already ❤️

You are so adorable and I'm so glad I found you. I'm only half way through but I love your podcasting style, how you don't try to pad out the words and of course the excellent choices for the year. I'm off to continue watching but was so struck by how considered and thoughtful you are to the viewer that I just had to write to tell you. Lu in Australia x (and I should be knitting but I make little bear collections in clay and the January one is looming fast so I'll make bears while you chat. :-) )

Contiguous set in sleeve is the technical name of the shoulder. I prefer sweaters with these shoulders over any other. I really like the look feel and wear of them, the cap sleeve looks good. They are the closest fit to piecing a sweater together.

Thank you very much! I have only knit one garment before, from a pattern. I started with crochet. The knit pattern I made successfully is Ranunculous I love it. In my case I made the smallest size. It fit, but then I lost 80 pounds, and it still fits, because the designer made it to be oversized! I love this pattern because you can use any weight yarn, up to 4. So up could be for any season!
@segofibers

Hi Debra! I started my yarny adventure with crochet, too. :) I'm so glad you love your Ranunculus! It's a great pattern and I really like how it looks good whether it's fitted or oversized. 👍 Great suggestion!

Augustin No 11 is a batwing construction if you follow the pattern exactly. Anyone who lived through the 80s will tell you that putting a coat on with a bulky weight, batwing sweater is almost a gymnastic achievement. Your cuffs will end up at your elbows and you’ll have fun trying to put your arms down for the bunched up fabric in your armpits. That said, I made one. I love it (though it is rather hole-y up by the saddle shoulder. That could be a me problem others didn’t get). I just wear it in fall or spring when I won’t need a coat. If I were to make it again (and I very well may), I would do away with the batwings and make it have more usual sleeves.
@segofibers
@segofibers Жыл бұрын
Oh, that's a good point. Thanks for the info and experience! I'll consider if I want to keep the batwing or mod it a bit. :D

I've been knitting for 7 years and almost since the beginning I was struggling with ease. I had a rough time trying to find anyone who would actually explain it. These few little words, "You want to pick a size that is 8 cm or 3 inches smaller than your bust circumference" and it clicked! Thank you!!!
@segofibers
@segofibers Жыл бұрын
Your comment totally made my day! It's funny how sometimes hearing something in a particular way can click. I'm happy to have been part of that moment for you. I hope you have a great day and totally nail the ease on your next sweater! ❤

As a swedish person (swedish is pretty similar to norwegian) I had to re-translate a norwegian pattern several times and look up certain knitting terms because google translate does noooot work for that. I’d be interested to see if it works for you but I wouldn’t recommend it if you can find a similar pattern in english!

Very small ones. German twisted cast on with one by one twisted rib (I like crisp ribbing). I also added a purl bump along the bottom or top of each ribbing section; collar, arms and waist. I chose 50/50 cotton/merino which I am very happy with. I am going to make another one for fall without the cotton blend.
@segofibers

@@carrotlover7763 Oh that all sounds lovely! I love it when people add a purl bump next to the ribbing. It looks so good - I want to try that soon. :) And I think a fall version will be super nice.
