These are specifically for Y1, but stale PVP meta and heavy RNG dependence. TLW/Thorn must’ve been picked like 60% of the time in crucible, especially in Trials. As for the RNG dependence, you mentioned “forever 29” in this video, but that’s just one symptom of the RNG, another example is exotics. Gjallarhorn was a huge power gap between those who had it and those who didn’t. LFG groups would frequently exclude those without it and of course it was pure RNG whether you had one or not.

I think for most of them I'd agree. But there are several of them that I always hated about d1 and wished they had done something about it. Some strong examples, sprint lock, having to go to orbit to do anything,, having to decrypt all dropped engrams at the cryptarch, leveling up weapons, gear dropping for characters that you aren't on.

I agree, because the key difference to Destiny 2, that crazy hard to get weapon STAYED GOOD, and wasnt nerfed out of the meta the next time a new season came around. D2 you grind like hell for the god roll weapon of the current season, at end game activity (see grinding) only for it to be totally irrelevant when the next season arrives. In D1 I have a scout rifle I got from grinding iron banner that is still top tier in year 3 D1. All my year 1 D2 gear has been obsoleted, all those hours spent grinding the year 1 raid, and all of it is gone.

Tbh I actually liked unlocking the perks of my weapons. It gave me something to chase, and it felt great as your weapon got better the more you used it. For the rest, as you said at the end, these are only seen as faults after D2 improved on them, which is to be expected. Imo the biggest pain point for me overall, is not that D1 had it's faults, but that D2 failed to keep all the positive features of D1, while ironing out all the bad things in D1. Also... why are we still unable to change our Guardian's face without deleting and making a new character? Seriously, so many games have allowed players to change the character's face mid game without any issues for years.

I had so much fun as a void hunter with the invisibility smoke bomb. However one thing I did hate was lack of builds specifically during the few raids that I actually played. Gallajhorn was required on Crota's end. I had to be a void hunter on King's Fall because of the tether. People demanding in raids that I have whisper or they would kick me. So few people wiling to teach you how to raid at all. It's gotten better but there are still problems within the community regarding knowledge of raids and demanding that you have certain mods equipped.

Bruh, 3.0 Subclasses are worse than D1 I only played Behemoth because then I deleted my characters but the Fragments are just a lazy way to not give each Class uniqueness Then you have the problem of having to balance all Fragments will all classes in mind, removing actual uniqueness In D1, the Titan was the only one with a 95 health Overshield, in D2, everyone can just put on the Fragment for the Stasis shard OV and call it a day

I genuinely think destiny 1 is better, destiny 2 is built like a mobile game, I'm sorry but it is, obviously it doesn't have microtransactions but it's built in sense of how clash of clans is, you run through the same content, over and over again than you wait to be able to do it again, and destiny 1 is different in that there is less hours to be had yes, but everything is more meaningful, there's more to everything. Used it all the time to pull stuff out of the vault mid raids between encounters, and using it to speed up bounty gathering iirc. I agree. Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think we are WAY too powerful in D2. 95% of the game is a joke in terms of difficulty. GM's and some master content is the only challenging aspect to this game. Normal mode raids and dungeons are a breeze compared to D1. Strikes are just laughable, I remember heroic strikes in D1 where you actually had to be careful because you could die fairly easily. Compare that to now where you may aswell have god mode enabled. D2 is better than D1 in many ways, but the feeling I had playing Destiny in D1 Y1 and Taken King launch will never be replicated. The best time I’ve ever had in gaming. Sure meeting new people and making memories was a big part of it, but for me Destiny 1 was a totally new experience. I’d never played anything like it and I adored the grind, the mystery, the challenge, and the social aspect. Sadly I didn’t have that same love for Y2 and Y3 of D1, but I still enjoyed it. D2 is dang solid now though and I love it way more than I did Y2 and Y3 of D1, but it still can’t top that special feeling of early D1.

I was a hater for half the game cuz I was angry at what they did to my favorite game but im so happy they finally took the game in the right direction and most obvious considering most of us have been begging Bungie since early D1 to do all thesr things from quality of life to build variety to challenging content that can be solod if you try hard enough etc. Im really enjoying the game again after taking a year off and am pleasantly surprised. Witchqueen campaign is probably the best campaign they've ever made in my opinion and I the dungeons are the best content besides raids. Im glad dungeons are possible to solo and appreciate that. I honestly never knew there was a cool down for sprint ....I thought my controller was just broken lol. I've died sooooo many times from it. Thankfully the defense number was scrapped and it's just level 40 then light levels.

I remember prior to getting the Pocket Infinity quest, I’d get rare FR rifles like crazy. Once the quest dropped, I’d see one rare FR rifle every 1-2 days. I was convinced the game purposely reduced the drop of rare/legendary FR once you had the quest so that the quest step to dismantle 10 rare or higher tier FR wouldn’t be easily completed.

Honestly, I rather preferred the weapon levelling for perks in some ways. It sort of forced you to learn the gun before you could get it to the ultimate version, so by the time is was fully levelled and perked, you were VERY good with it. It just "tasted" better than the way we do it now.

Great vid! But I should point out a few details; I didn’t mind leveling weapons in D1. It’s better than leveling crafted weapons in D2. I also liked the shaders in D1 verses years 1-3 or 4 in D2. About exotics, I wish they’d bring the Boolean back to D2. Heck, most D1 exotics are now in D2 As far as 30fps, yes it sucks…..today, but back on PS3 (which D1 launched on) it wasn’t a big deal. Most games were in 30 frames. Nobody really cared or noticed back then. Except PC players… The thorn quest did suck…however bungie did that again in D2 on another exotic quest, forget which one. Sorry about the wall of text. I tend to view D1 with rose-colored-glasses lol. Don’t get me wrong there were bad things in D1 BUT there are bad things about D2 as well. Just as there are good things about both.

Lol kinda irrelevant now, when I play D2 I notice a lot of changes when I play D1, but those changes are what I love its what I grew up on. D1 will always hold a special place in my heart, and D2 just does 23 or more things better than D1. D1 could've been D2, but Activision wanted money so they made a second game, so Bungie wanted to continue off on the first game so technically everything that D2 is now today could have been D1.

One thing I am curious on though is how long the grind would be for an expansion in D1 vs an expansion in D2 because there is a lott more stuff now in D2 but a ton of it is simply redundant and its disapponting to finally get the "god roll" of a new weapon only to realize it feels basically the smar as one you already have and love.

With respect to PS exclusives, as an Xbox player (since moved to PC), I still have never received the Zen Meteor. I have occasionally dropped into D1 and popped Three of Coins, and even after 3-4 special weapon exotic engrams, I haven’t had it drop. One day, I will get it, kill one dreg with it, and never use it again. With respect to the Thorn quest, I agree and disagree with the frustration. As someone who was terrible at PvP, I deleted that quest a couple times. Invective was another exotic quest that had a PvP step that lost progress on death, but more forgiving (it counted assists, and if memory serves, you had to get to a net of +25 kills/assists). I credit those two quests as getting me to go from terrible to mediocre at PvP. So, I understand, and experienced, the frustration. On the other hand, they were the main reason I started to improve in PvP to be not-terrible.

I just miss the difficulty of D1. D2's core activities and seasonal content is so mind numbingly easy, even WITHOUT mentioning the fact that every class now has like 50 ways to heal infinitely or over shield infinitely or be invisible infinitely... I don't agree with nerfs, but D2 enemies need to be buffed massively. Strike playlist should actually be a challenge, not just a mindless domination of low health enemies. The difficulty of 1570 nightfalls should be the base difficulty for strikes and all seasonal content. With nightfalls and master content being much harder.

While things like sprint lock were pretty bad, I loved how unforgiving D1 was. Made finally getting a weapon/exotic so much more valuable and satisfying. Exotics felt like exotics not only in rarity but also how they made you feel like you were breaking out of the normal gameplay. Now we have bungie auto completing weekly challenges because everyone on Reddit whines and complains about anything they see as remotely “challenging”

"I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you actually left them." -Andy Bernard Year 3 Destiny 1 was by far and away the most complete Destiny has ever been. All raids dropped current light level, almost all exotics were brought back, exotic raid weapon versions, the weapon system was simpler, the microtransactions weren’t so egregious, no season pass, just DLC and updates. If I could press a button and bring all the basic QoL updates like mantle, maps, and bounty pickup into Destiny 1, it wouldn’t even be close. Such a better game art design and gamemode wise…

Idk why people are hating the grinding in D1 so much. In D2 you get an exotic way too easy, like you kill a random enemy on the moon and get an exotic quest to kill a boss that is so easy. I always thought that exotic are meant to be something hard to get and not something you get playing 2 hours after you get the game. The same thing with xur the grind in D1 to get strange coins to buy a exotic is way more satifying than to get 95 of legendary shards what you get after you dismantel a legendary weapon or armor
