The Yowie ABS Rooftop Tent by 23Zero is for outback slumbers from the dual cabs and canopies to the tub racks and trailers.
Its raised X-frame design allows maximum interior headroom, while the zippered head vent controls air circulation for a restful and settled sleep. The two piece aluminium baseboard boasts a sturdy but lightweight honeycomb construction, while the memory foam mattress with velour cover provides a luxurious level of plush comfort out bush. Large side windows also maintain good ventilation, with full canopy covers keeping you dry indoors during adverse weather conditions. Be it days of outdoor indulging or simply a prompt stopover - the lift and fold out design coupled with the automatically operated entry canopy sees you set up by sundown and packed down by those last few drops of dew drying on the bonnet.
Swap the bright city lights with the magic of the outback night, owing to a stargazing roof window, telescope ladder, and a clear TPU window fixed to the flysheet. With internal storage pockets to keep the knick knacks intact, external shoe pockets to keep your boots from scooting, and enough room to keep your sleep setup stowed on the open road - this tent is rooftop royalty. Turn it on when off the grid, owing to the LED strip lighting with USB plugs and thanks to an externally fitted bungee cord to reduce bulging, you can pack down flat without the excess flap.

I have this , just put it on a week ago and I love it. Yesterday I was showing it off to a couple people I work with and I ended up opening and closing it twice and it didn't feel like I did anything. It is stupid quick to open and close. Way better than the tepui soft shell I had before. It is crazy pricy but you get a lot of convenience and quality for that price

@@SnowysOutdoors Its very posh. I like the idea of looking at the storm cloud thru that window. The orange bed is cool, room for the sleeping gear and a external built in shoe stow. And a cool looking support ladder. Big thumbs up.

how do you keep bugs/ critters out of the roof top tent?

You'll just need to zip it up, CHAS, there are spots that are not completely sealed where the frame goes through the fabric but you shouldn't have any problems, unless you store food inside the tent which may attract ants. ~ Ben

What’s the ETA on the Set Up/Pack Up video? We’ll be purchasing one of these in about a month - it’s nice to know there’s an Australian supplier. Does the roof vent pvc panel open? Such as having the mesh panel that can be used to allow air flow from the top?

No, the PVC panel is sealed to ensure it is waterproof, Jimmy. It's only in the flysheet though, so you can open the inner tent and get ventilation between the inner and the fly. ~ Ben

Love all the videos you guys do. it would be helpful though if you could measure the overall weight.. Have been looking for a rooftop tent for awhile. Only have 100 kg rating on the roof. thanks

Hey Jamie, thanks for the kudos. Unfortunately we don't have scales large enough to weigh these, so we can only go by the information the supplier provides us. You can see this information on our product page here - www.snowys.com.au/yowie-abs-hard-shell-rooftop-tent. For the Yowie 23Zero state that it weights 79 Kg plus another 1.5 Kg for the mounting kit. It's good that you are aware of your roof load rating, there aren't many cars rated above 100Kg and many people put these on their roof completely unaware of how it impacts the handling of their car. I don't think this is necessarily the customers fault though, all the flashy marketing images don't portray these considerations. We once had a customer wanting to put a big tent on a Suzuki Jimny, he was disappointed but thankful when we suggested he might be exceeding his roof load ratings. ~ Ben

It was definitely a typo, I wasn’t asking you to weigh it LOL… Right now I’ve got a patrol and I’ve got three HD rhino racks and a Kings awning.. I think I’m at 30 kg already… I will keep shopping around till I find one maybe around the 65kg mark.. Thank again for Entertainment, with the fire to fork episode too cheers Jamie

You can't put roof rails on the Yowie, Criptixx1, you'd need to instead consider the Panther for this. ~ Ben

I couldn't label one as better than the other, both have their merits. The aluminium top of the Panther enables extra gear or solar panels to be stored on top top whereas the X-Frame of the Yowie minimises overhang at the hinged end of the cover and allows for a bit of extra head internal height through the central area of the tent. ~ Ben.

On the roof window you showed a flyscreen. then a sealed plastic panel. does that plastic open for ventilation.? Also I am 6'2 and fairly broad across the shoulders. Will I fit? and will someone else fit next to me? Thank you for your help.

The PVC panel is sealed in order for it to be waterproof. You will get some ventilation between the inner and the flysheet though. As for laying down, you will fit but you won't have much extra space at each end, and as for width, you've got about 140cm which is the same width as most double camp mats, it may be tight if both of you have broad shoulders. ~ Ben

Nope - the Armadillo is a USA specific model, and is a bit different to the Yowie which is an Aussie model. ~ Lauren

Shame they didnt make the side internal window covers attached at the base so they zip up not down. Bit of a design failure imho. Good zipping half way so you get privacy and airflow.

There are pros and cons either way, I've had people mention that it's annoying having the windows fold down as you either have a flap of fabric on the base or you need to bunch it up next to where you are laying. Having them zip down is good for privacy as you mention though, but probably not as important for a rooftop tent given it is likely to be up high anyway. ~ Ben
