For state, I think they are underestimating the how well Middlebrooks and Diarra have been playing. State has 3 really good bigs. It’s not just DJ

Yup. They forget we also have Diarra and Middlebrooks. Two outstanding defenders who can essentially lock down Ighodaro on defense.

Duke can beat Houston. Like it or not officiating is key. Houston can NOT send Duke to the free throw like they did Texas A@M. If that happens Duke wins.

As a Coog, I was more worried about the A&M game than I am of Duke. A&M came into that game hot. Having said that, this reminds me of last year's tournie when Houston faced a red hot ACC team in the S16, Miami, and got routed.

I know it’s a different team and year but this sound like what they said in 22 when Duke vs Texas Tech in the sweet 16. Texas tech had the Older guards and more physical and we all know what happened then

Houston deserves chalk pick for their overall season, but Duke youngun’s haven’t come close to a ceiling yet where all 5 starters are on full cylinder. 3.5-4 spread is hardly overwhelming confidence in Houston. I think both fan bases will be low on fingernails at the end of this game.

Roberts is the key for Houston. They rely on him heavily for their rebounds and front court scoring. He’s playing with a shin contusion and it was clearly bothering him vs TAMU, but he appears tough and plays through that pain.

@@Vegetado yup. Houston is 32-4. Out of 36 games, the only other game with that many fouls called on Houston was the Xavier game. Same ref in both games. Houston won that game, too. If Houston gets in foul trouble in this game, they could lose. Injuries to key players will eventually catch up.

Born in 82. Been a duke fan since I was old enough to follow sports .They have been live by the 3 die by the 3 . We can beat anyone if we are hot and lose to literally anyone when they don’t fall. Also Flip has to go. 7 ft tall. Sooo slow on defense. Doesn’t block shots. Settles for fadeaways. I don’t see how he’s able to be used in the pros

The Duke vs Houston game is going to come down to how it's officiated! If they call fouls as fouls Duke wins, if they "let them play" then Houston may have an advantage. Houston is just like Virginia or Wisconsin or any other college team known for "defensive toughness". They don't actually play good defense, they just get away with a lot of fouls!

Houston has not won anything with all the #1 and #2 seeds they have had in last 5 years. Lost by 25 or more to ISU and barely got by TT. Duke prob sends them home and I hate Duke.

I think you mean TAMU, they beat Texas Tech by 20+ both times they played them. ISU was an anomaly for those guys. Recency bias is naive. 1 game in the conference tournament erases 30 wins for a team? Come on. This will be a fist fight and both teams have a chance at this game. Staying out of foul trouble, high defensive efficiency, and rebounding will win Houston the game. Duke could win the game if they control the boards and put Houston in foul trouble. Shooting the ball well doesn’t even matter for Duke if those 2 things happen. It’ll be a great game, I think.
