Really excited easy to know

The moment the man said I am also from Harvard l understood why he asked the question. It was to show off that he was also a Harvard graduate. I have lived in America and know many Harvard graduates. This man's appearance his demeanor his poor language skills and thick accent was NOT AT ALL an indication that he was from Harvard . So it was extremely difficult to believe that he was even Near Harvard at any point in his life. Unfortunately he was the first in the line and we all had to hear that stupid question.

Literally that elderly gentlemen showed immense immaturity. Instead of asking some great questions he asked that stupid question. He must be coming here after reading Snakes in the Ganga No problem with the book but the thing is such great discussion on Religion doesn't happen in Indian Universities nor are students interested in it.

Our ancestors were so great ,they realized truth ,when most part of the world were infested by barbarians! Unfortunately, we never ever felt proud of that ,instead ,our intellectuals, historians talked mostly about Moghul & British era and ridiculed Hindus as idol worshipers. Are not we ,the Hindus generation after generation brought this inferiority complex ourselves by not respectfully, sincerely studying & following Upnisads, Sri Gita ?? Even we don't know what's the purpose of worshipping God in various forms ( although those have very reasonable symbolic meaning) .That's why non believers humiliate us often & we can't defend ourselves logically .

A great blunder by that elderly gentleman. Let's take it in the same spirit as Swamiji.

This world is Maya. Advaita vedanta's concept of consciousness is different. Thoughts and memories are not consciousness.

When we say Advaita Vedanta, we are referring to Jnana Yoga (Knowledge), but there are other paths as well like Bhakti, Karma and Dhyana (Meditation). These other paths have also been discussed in Vedanta, particularly the Bhagavad Gita. Because Jnana yoga is difficult to understand owing to it's abstract nature, Swamiji is seen as a rare individual who has a mastery over Jnana yoga. Other paths are more based on practice, and are hence easier to comprehend.

I *think* that the gentleman's remark and his question was relevant. Definetly not disrespectful. Was probably uncomfortable to some. Swamy Sarvapriyananda maharaj is exemplary [best adjectives fall short of adoring him]. Period. Yet. It's ok to refer to other eminent personalities who are in similar stream. But at times, it sounds like a compulsion, a deep need to be accepted by others (such as Harvard). Well it could be his blind spot. Or childlike. Then you are reading the wrong version of Gita or more specifically GITA AS IT IS of ISKCON. Its better read some other version, Listen to Swami Sarvapriyananda's Gita lectures on KZfaq. There is one GITA LECTURE PLAYLIST

Who will decide what is right and wrong ? I am quoting this from Puranas that are translated by Panchanan Tarkaratna. Sanskrit verses can never be changed. There are very clear verses in Gita that places Bhakti as the Highest form of Yoga.

Even Ramakrishna Paramhans has himself said many times, in Kaliyuga, Bhakti is the only way. So, just chant the name of Hari. But somehow today Ramakrishna Mission sanyasis talk less about it
