For other colonials: while "tog" is slang for both clothing and male genetalia, *TOG* is a duvet rating acronym : *thermal overall grade* : indicating a duvet's heat retention capacity - the higher, the warmer. So Jack Whitehall's *toggage* is something of a trifecta. @UmmEss

@rukeyser
@rukeyser 3 ай бұрын
The flat affect of clueless upperclass entitlement is a mainstay of British humor - to say nothing of Jane Austen. Jack is a toff playing a clueless toff. Ive heard a couple throwaway sharp jabs at devasting policies get completely lost in ambient noise. That's about timing and opportunity. So yes he *is* trying - which is fine. "Effortless" isnt easy & he's playing with giants. Old, slow stories and remarks from old amusingly articulate upper class men play to rapt attention, as does David's now finely honed morose middle class superiority. Not saying he's Great - but i have no problem watching him work out ;->

actually a 'round robin' is a collection of names, usually of folk protesting about something, for example the crew of a ship, but written in a circle in such a way that the 'leader' /'originator' of the protest could not be identified by the powers that be, eg by the ship's captain, as the ring leader/trouble maker, i.e. no one name was 'at the top'. My father, who became a sea captain, saw such a thing when he was a boy on a tug.......
@axel995r
@axel995r 8 ай бұрын
@@Mollineaux while I have no doubt that your explanation is also correct, in this particular case the one I found online makes a lot more sense judging from the context, i.e. 'my father received a round robin and wanted to read it out' or whatever the exact wording was, makes a lot more sense that it was a letter.

Where do these people get the names of things like "Cot". What's that? She's ( Claudia), talking about a BABYBED,or Bassinet. A cot is what you sleep on in a tent.
@judepower4425
@judepower4425 7 ай бұрын
A cot is also a small bed with sides for a baby or toddler and this term has been in universal usage here in Australia for as long as I can remember and I'm in my 70s, I'm assuming you're in the USA where so many people assume that country's use of language and terminology is the only correct one? By the way, a bassinet is quite different from a cot or a baby bed.
@glassonion5474
@glassonion5474 7 ай бұрын
@@judepower4425 Hi. 🇦🇺 here too. I was just about to write the same thing!😉 @michalleftwich: "These people" are British. They don't just make up words. As explained above by judepower, here in Oz a cot IS a bed a baby sleeps in. You probably call it a crib. We don't say baby bed and we don't say crib! A bassinet is very different. It's an angled stand alone that baby can be secured in so they can look around and also rocked. A stretcher is an elevated (usually canvas) fold up bed we sleep on while camping. We also sleep on blow up mattresses. A pram is what we push a baby in, a stroller is a lightweight fold up pusher for a toddler. Btw, a nappy is what you probably call a diaper. We use the Kings English here- they aren't just made up words- just because you don't know what they are.
