I have the same sand-blaster and get great results with regular beach sand. Some tips: Sieve your sand before using it Put your sand bucket on a stool so it doesn't have to be sucked up against gravity. Keep the sand feed tube straight, no coils. Take it slow. It's not like pressure washing. Bump the tip on the work now and then if the sand stops flowing. Keep the sand feed tube on top, so that water doesn't drip into it. Wet sand won't flow Do the job on a concrete surface. Leave the wet sand to dry. Sweep it up, sieve it and reuse it.

Great review, I don’t have time to sift through all of the comments but if it hasn’t been said already. I would strongly recommend you use actual blasting media instead of play sand. There is a difference and the results are very surprising.

It probably cracked the ceramic tip when it clogged. It probably wouldn't have broken if you had used higher quality sand,or seived it through some window screen before hand.

I would have used actual blasting media. The play sand is inconsistent in grain size and hardness. It was likely the larger rocks in the sand that ruined the tip. I have an antique cast iron stove that needs blasted. I think that I could use this with pumice, and my 1500 psi pressure washer. I'll definitely test it on a sacrificial cast iron piece first.

I do sand blasting with air, and can assure this water method makes much less of a mess to clean up. The down side I can already see light surface rust on the frame you blasted. If you do paint over that like you said the paint won’t last too long. Great video thanks for real life test!

The surface rust is not an issue. Just get a gallon of metal prep/phosporic acid from big box store and spray it on using cheap spray bottle. Been doing this for 20+ years and it works fine.

I would use this kind of blasting in order to remove rust and maybe the paint from the metal such as gates or ladders, with my home pressure machine (120 bar). But many people say that the water will make the rust quickly and the pressure machin ain't got the right power.

They work pretty good if you don't run sand with rocks in it (like play sand has), don't hook it to a pressure washer too powerful, and keep the sand hose turned to the top like it designed so water doesn't drain in the hose.

Pool filter sand is more consistent with size. Or sift it with a screen. Once the tip plugs it back flows the water into the hose. Those units don’t have a check valve
@drefhill

You're suposed to use that kit at 2200psi (150-160bars), that may explain why it blew up that fast. Not sure about the recomended flow but 2,6GPM is not that much anyway so your problem was probably the to high pressure. And because it's cheaply designed of course but you use a DIY toy with a professional high pressure pump so it's not adapted. I've bought one but haven't tested yet, my pump is 4GPM i'll set it at 2200PSI and see if it last longer. Also as others mentioned it's clogged so that probably damaged it because it was getting 3000psi and 2,6GPM in his face with no direct way out.
@drefhill
@drefhill 4 жыл бұрын
i've bougt exactly the same on Aliexpress for 15$ shiping included. I use it at 160bars 2300psi it works but the ceramic tip get worn out pretty quick so i have to change it about every 200kilograms of sand, the tip cost 1$ only. Also i had to make the brass hole bigger because my pump is to powerfull (200bars 15l/min) for the original small hole.

Thanks for the video review. This particular blaster is probably the type most sold now particularly on EBay,. it certainly looks like the one. I ordered the same one for a Karcher Type 3 fitting but it doesnt lock properly and consequently leaks. Also the plastic hose is far too flimsy and kinks easily and just like you had, the hose blocks up with wet sand so it makes the whole process frustrating. Im in the process of returning the one I bought and as soon as I can discover the best way of making my own I will be off into the workshop to do so. Sure its a biggish job machining it up but at least if you make it heavy duty and you do get it to function its better than suffering the hassle of fighting against a cheaply manufactured item which youll either bin or have to send back.

But wet sandblasting is good for big surfaces and if you want to work faster. Also having watter everywhere is not practical, but with dry system you have dust everywhere so it depend of what you want and what you can do.

@@drefhill Overly simplistic 1. No where did the guy I was replying to mention painting 2. Even if you were a WD 40 wipe to be moisture free followed by a wipe with thinners gets you a water, tarnish and oil free paintable surface. The WD means you have all the time you need without rust worries so you just do the thinners wipe immediately before spraying

I know this video is a few years old, but I had to comment anyway. Dumbest thing I've ever seen award winner 🏆, congrats! This video does NOT reflect the quality of the $25 blasting attachment! It reflects the severe ignorance of the user/tester! 1. Sand Blasting doesn't mean use beach/play ground/plaster/ Construction Sand!!! 2. Sand Blasting uses many types of "Media" but the 1 thing they all have in common is size of grain stays consistent with the desired type and size. That crappy sand destroyed it, next time try using gravel and see what happens!

This is a very nice hose reel and works well for both pressure washers as well as air compressors. kzfaq.infoUgkxPlq4EXuuN-QUxCFnr3zBgMcXW36Jtofz I’ve grown tired of manually winding up kinked hoses when using both my pressure washer and my air compressor, so this was an attractive option. This installed pretty easy, it took a bit to unkink the hose to get it ready for winding up, especially with the area that connects. With my specific hose it wouldn’t screw in good feeding it through and attaching it, so I had to attach the hose and feed the full 50’ of hose through the small opening, unkink it from feeding it through, then wind it up. Knowing this was the last time to go through this was reassuring, but it took awhile to fully set this up and mount it.I ended up ordering another 100’ version of this as well, which I adapted to fit my air compressor. I did have to use an adapter to go from ⅜ to ¼ but once connected it worked excellent for this as well. I would highly recommend the reel to anyone looking to make their pressurized hoses easier to work with!
