Another wonderful video Elyssa, you can spend a whole week just looking around all of the beautiful churches. We were in the Vittoriano 2 weeks ago and is well worth a visit. Thanks again.for so many things to see in Rome.

Thank you so much Peter! Yes, there are many churches near the Colosseum, let alone in other areas of Rome, that I didn't mention here - it would have been a very long video if I had! Agree - the Vittoriano is really worth a visit! So glad you had such a great visit when you came recently!

As you mentioned in your other video we found the Case al Celio the perfect (cool!!!) midday break after a morning at the Colloseum and an afternoon in the Forum. It's a fantastic "hidden gem"! Great audio guides, no crowds(!) and very fascinating, especially due to all those different beautiful frescos. Thank you very much for pointing out this special sight. :-)

I'm so glad you got to visit this wonderful site! It's truly an amazing place to see Ancient Rome and besides the lack of crowds and the cool air, I really love the quality of the site. The frescoes are so vivid, the nympheum is really intact, and that little museum at the back is really well-curated!

Thank you so much as always for your kind support! Yes, churches are as much a part of Roman culture and sight-seeing as other sights, and they are open to everyone. With nearly 1,000 in Rome, I still have yet to see them all! What a treat that must have been to see the Rolling Stones in Circus Maximus! I am sure you enjoyed it!

Great tips as ususal Elyssa. You mentioned all my favorite churches. I love San Clemente but recently fell in love with Quattro Coronati. There's a beautiful cloister (ring the bell and a nun lets you in ...we give a small donation) and right next door is San Sylvester 's chapel frescos... spectacular story telling of Constantine and Pope Sylvester. It's never crowded and the atmosphere transports you to another time. Mille Grazie Elyssa.

Thank you so much! It's hard for me to list my "favorite" churches as there are so many! Santi Quattro is one of those really special places in Rome that's worth exploring in its entirety when possible. In this video, I share a small clip of the Oratory of Saint Sylvester. I also included a lot more about the chapel, including the stunning fresco of the Donation of Constantine in this video specifically about 5 special and little-known chapels in Rome: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fZOUnNpq0p3PfJ8.html By the way, that cloister is no longer open regularly as it used to be. They now open it only on days when they open the Aula Gotica. If you get a chance to see the Aula Gotica (if you have not already), I hope you will! It's one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Sadly, photos are strictly forbidden, but you can learn more about it here: www.aulagoticasantiquattrocoronati.it/

I know someone who complains about their knees and I think of them when I walk up or down said places! How about a video of places to avoid? Thank you so much! Yes I try to let people know the "ins and outs" of things in Rome, including the plusses and minuses! Sorry to hear about your having to lug suitcases up a huge staircase! Thanks for watching and for your comments. Yes, it's true the Basilica of Saint John in Lateran along with its Baptistery and the Scala Sancta across the street makes for a wonderful visit, AND it's really not that far from the Colosseum. The Mithraeums are a major pull for me, read 5 books on Mithraism or as they are switching to call it Cult of Mithras, they are mostly switching to that to distinguish it as a roman mystery cult, and not exactly the same as the Persian sun god, we still don't know a Lot about that Cult, but they keep finding more and more mithraeums in all Roman occupied cities, paris, london and all over, under lots of churches, fascinating stuff.

It is amazing how difficult they made this! I found the page where you can book but it was Byzantine. You can visit this page: www.coopculture.it/en/products/visiting-the-domus-aurea-from-the-monument-to-the-exhibition-lamato-di-iside.-nerone-la-domus-aurea-e-legitto/ And then in the middle of the page, click English - Buy Online. It will take you to a booking calendar full of green (available) dates through the end of August. If you are coming later than August, you'll need to keep checking back as they only release tickets about 30 days in advance. Please let me know if this helped!
