The view towards the bay/sea from up above is beautiful. That drone is handy for checking the roofs of buildings, particularly guttering for leaf build up. Saves getting up a ladder, until you have to. I hope your water issue gets solved. I notice you are wearing shorts. Must be warming up. Getting colder Downunder. I have five layers of clothes on today, and we haven't even reached winter yet! Cheers from Australia.

Ya it’s spring here now Bruce. Not warm but working in the mod shop is far more comfortable with shorts. Some of these videos are done quickly because in pretty busy but at least you folks get to see what we’re up to. Yes the drone is really a handy tool. Gives a whole different perspective to the job. Keep well and thanks for watching.

That is a fair amount of digging there guys, it should last a lifetime once fixed. Rain today and for a couple now but been mostly fine this year where as 2023 was mostly wet. Safe travels to you both. Ken.

Many years ago in the Cincinnati OH. some builder put this plastic pipe that had a name and it was number one to use put it in thousands of homes. I was sent to work in an area where the yard were dug up or being dug up to replace that pipe because it would split and leak. The home owner went to court and won to make the builder come back and replace it. I build my house a few years later and I use copper line. It cost but I never had a leak. Other in my area use the plastic and had to fix leaks.
@78633482 ай бұрын
That was a different type of plastic pipe that was promoted but not properly tested. The PEX system we’re using has been used in other countries for a very long time. They state this stuff can go beyond 100 years. Copper don’t do well here. I’ve seen home less than 20 years old needing there’s completely replaced.
@JimsEquipmentShed2 ай бұрын
My old well was 350' away, and there was a foot valve at the end that would die occasionally. I'd have to replace that once every 10 years or so. Then one year, the pipe froze, we had to drill a new well in the middle of winter because there was no way to dig the line out. So at least you are not dealing with freeing temps during this event....
@78633482 ай бұрын
Yes that was rough for you in that situation. Same as I told Kathy. I was expecting this to soon fail and we are lucky it didn’t happen mid winter. We never lost the water supply but just about lost our minds with the noise in the pipes.
@ChrisR25172 ай бұрын
Do I see Paul in shorts & Kathy rugged up to ears ? Good to see you again.
@78633482 ай бұрын
😂 That’s a good observation Chris but there’s a reason. Kathy and I work in different areas of the facility. Where kathy works she don’t want it warm whereas where I work I need it to be climate controlled both for health reasons and to keep the shop equipment dry and warm for refinishing the mods we make. The reason we were like that in the video is because I wanted to a short flight but it was cold out so Kathy dressed for the cold whereas I’m just like Rambo. I’m tougher than her 😂. Have a great weekend bud.

This area is commercial/residential. I couldn’t do what I have done in a residential zone. Yes the next door business is a mess and I’m getting things done about that but the great thing about it is we are much higher in elevation than them and from our ground level we or others don’t see it because of that with our trees. From the air it’s very visible but Yes, something needs to be done about that place and it will.

No my friend. I really didn’t have the time to fool with it. Gave the job to a local company that I knew. They’ll do the dig. The replacement of the line and back filling. I will do the finis work. Once done then I’ll get the pavers in to have a look at it all.

Did you have to get a load of sand to bed the pex pipe into ? also, how far down is your frost line on the rock? Here in Florida I put in 1200 feet waterline to water the plants. And fire protection.
@78633482 ай бұрын
They say 3 feet deep and there’s no worries with frost. We went 4 feet. We’ve never had ant freezing here and the last 15 years the winters are warmer. As for the covering the pipe. Some top soil over the pimple and bury it. Standard procedure around here. When I was operating heavy equipment we would cover the pipe with sand then bury it. Different places have different procedures.

Wow, to bad it involved the blacktop driveway. I’m sure it will all work out but a big inconvenience when you’re trying to operate a business and can’t get thru. Best to you both .stay well.
@78633482 ай бұрын
Yes it’s a bit of a mess but I expected this to occur eventually. It really don’t effect the business because we don’t have walk in customers anymore. Everything we do now is now internet based. They order, we ship. Most of the time the driveways gate is closed. We just work away uninterrupted. As for the black top. We needed to address that but didn’t until the water line was done.
@volvoheavyeq4704Ай бұрын
Kind of wondering how long driveway tied up in case an ambulance or fire dept might be needed.
@7863348Ай бұрын
Well that’s a great question. Technically the entrance to the driveway was down for a day but if we needed to get emergency services up to the homestead we have another emergency way to get in. At this point everything is backfilled and relatively back in order. We had hoped to have the topsoil spread but it’s been raining for days. It will come lol

Thanks Much Paul. Strange route from point A to point B. DId they follow the original Route and find where the leak was ?? Was there a wet spot in the dig path ? Where my water line from the Well crosses under My drive , it is down 8 Feet HAHAHA. The 1" line from the well is only about 50/60 Ft to the House so He basically came off the Pitless adaptor straight to the House at 8 feet deep... Mike M.
@78633482 ай бұрын
Mike I decided on the path for the new water line. There were a few factors that were considered. To follow the original path I would have torn up more pavement plus risk hitting the sewer line which they did just after this video down by the road and had to fix it. This was no doubt intrusive but the lest of it. As for the water. We could hear it but never seen a drop. I think it leaked coming right to the house and the weeping tile snatched it and it went out to the sewer. Hope all is well on your end.

I’ve got a similar issue going on with my water system here’s the butt with the increase in homes being built my city in their so-called smarts instead of building a 4th water supply spot to tie into the system at 40 psi they decided to up the water pressure from 40 psi to 60 psi with higher pressure pumps and now when there is construction 1/8th to a 1/4 of a mile away it puts air into the system then the pressure goes above 60 psi and makes it feel like a fire hose pressure who needs fire hose pressure in their garden hose
@78633482 ай бұрын
They did the same here a few years ago. Introducing air into the water system, I thought the house was going to shake off the foundation with all the pipes rattling. I told Kathy. If we got a weakness in the plumbing we’ll soon know about it but it survived. Here we have 80 psi at the curb stop but I regulate it to 60 psi.

I pondered it but decided against it. I’ve only needed that generator once in 10 years and it’s got a whopping 21 hours on it from the first time we used it. You know what they say. im gonna guess his tap on the water main is right there at the end of his driveway. and i bet paul will just have his driveway all repaved anyway since they had to tear quite a bit up by the house and he has had to do alot of crack sealing on his driveway hes probably due for a new driveway anyway. he does have a custom built cracksealer after all
@78633482 ай бұрын
Exactly. This pavement was 30 years old. It’s seen a lot of traffic and heavy equipment over the years. It’s was getting rough but I’d never did much with it because I knew the day would come when I’d have to deal with the water main line. Now that I’m into this the pavement will be looked after as well. As for Leonard’s comment about down by the road. Yes it’s much deeper down there. At least 5 feet to the curb stop valve. Why? Heck I don’t know but it is what it is lol. Pipes are safe here from freezing if they are 3 feet deep.
