As someone who used to work at restaurants for years, I used to intentionally get into the longest drawn out conversations about the most boring shit with people because it would give me a break from doing any kind of actual work. So many people who work in those positions bemoan interacting with people with small talk and all that shit, but the reality is you can milk that for quite a long time if you know how to do it right, and your manager can't say anything cause basically it falls under the category of customer service, and honestly your manager will often congratulate you on being so nice to customers even though you're really just getting out of doing any kind of physical labor lol.

You literally just need to be able to read the screen that tells you when to flip the burger. The cook times are all pre determined you literally just have to follow steps as the different timer stages complete. The shit part is you are forced to watch a clock and each shift will feel like a year.

I worked at a Hawaiian barbecue restaurant and I got $14 an hour, drink all the soda I wanted, and free lunch everyday I worked and I would be high as shit just so I could smile at the customers. It was not a bad job
