Philippines should build lots of 500-800 ton warships and coast guard ships like Taiwan, not just a few large expensive ones. Also Philippines and Taiwan’s coast guards can work together against a common enemy

But it seems like they increase their numbers when China wasnt rich while Philippines was. But this was pre-CCP era, basically old China. So they are Chinese, but they are different and they actually respect their new home for generations while keeping their roots. Sadly the currently geopolitical issues is only more recent with newer regimes. It eroded trust and the rich culture that was sharing to each other. Shame really. They are not a force I would not take lightly they train three months straight with the US Marines & Commando every year and they train with the British Royal Marine & Marine Commandos. In world war 2 these Philippines Marines went into a Japanese Camp and came out taking the leadership all out in the darkness of the night and left no Japanese soldier standing alive. The American Army and Marines came in after just to pick up the pieces and bury all the dead Japaneses. Japan lost 2 full Battalion in about 5 hours of fighting the Philippine Marines waited till night fall snicked into the camp and fought from inside of the Japanese camp and also had the camp surrounded and fought them from the outside also. They are a tough and kick butt group of men. Being A US Marine and have trained with them twice in one year the Philippine Marines and Commandos have my respect totally!
