I can make the separation between game and reality, but as someone that grew up hunting, I do find myself getting overly concerned with letting wounded animals go, haha.

They need to fix the noise generated by walking in this game. Way too high for just a normal walk pace. Should be much less in the rain as well and it isnt

I live in a small town with woods close by. When i'm out there the deer only here me if i talk or run, until i'm very close, about 20-40m before they run. So yes I agree.

I remember way back in the day like 2017 before many dlc drops, i just took the .243 onto hirschfelden and killed herds of female roe deer lol. They keep coming back to your call so easy. I started on hirschfelden. I never knew the glory of layton until i was level 22! Lol the game would have been so much easier hunting things like coyotes, blacktail, whitetail, etc.

@@breannathompson9094 Thank god I fount your comment. I bought the game yesterday and started on Hirschfelden. Absolute struggle spotting anything in the thick woods. Then I switched to Layton and things got so much easier.

I just saw that I already had a .270 rifle as an event gift. Equipped it, first shot was an instakill on a bear. Wish I would've seen that I had that rifle earlier, always struggled shooting bears and moose :D

I played for one day and got 2 achievements that I think ur supposed to get later on 😅 Scarecrow- scare 1000 animals, it’s a hidden trophy. And Persistence is futile- track the same animal 200 times, I got this abt a 1/4 of the way thru of tracking the exact same bear for 2 and a half real hours straight. The dumbest part is I never even caught it.🤦♂️ god I was stupid, still am tho.

I know these vids are pretty old but I've been watching you for a while (pretty much since the beginning of this series) and just bought Thehunter CotW for ps4 for me and my wife and your vids have been SUCH a lifesaver especially on where to shoot to get quick kills and what to prioritize on unlocking and buying at the start ect. Keep doing what you do my friend and informing newbs like me and my wife :)

within like 20 minutes of me playing this game for the first time I encountered a black bear, it was maybe 5 meters away from me when I noticed it. Since then I have been walking with the shotgun ready to shoot whenever I'm in a forest or something

The point about not comparing our gameplay against the highlights being shown here is important. It's a relief to hear that you also wander out there, hear the calls, but don't always see the animals. You also made me realize I get tunnel vision on the animal I'm tracking (for far too long sometimes due to accidentally pushing) and waste time instead of moving on to a better opportunity elsewhere, near a need zone.

blake b the 270 has the same knock down power as most of the 30 cals. I know this s game but you would never aim for the spine it is too small of a target. You aim just behind the shoulder to hit the major organs for a guaranteed kill.

Brand new player here. Good videos! Educational, concise, and devoid of filler. Though I think I like my early game rabbit strategy better than you. I sneak right up on those sobs with a .45 with 410 shells in and get the whole bonus. Half the time the others stick around. But I know you are going for rifle score.

ive played for like 4 hours and im struggling with finding the things ive killed and sometimes to even find animals or see them. do u have any tips to help me cos im seeing you kill things n u run there and find it easy but for me theres times where they jus vanish but the blood spots say high bleed rate or vital organ hit and i cant find the animal

enjoying your videos, however i try to get a feel on how patient i need to be in my game and when you cut the video just to the point where your action happen it dont get the feel how long you actually played. for example with the bunnies on the watch tower. How long where you watching the area? if you could sometimes say how many minutes you spend on a spot, that would be helpful

I play this on an xbox. The issue that I have, is keeping the gun (crosshairs) from floating all over using the controller. I wonder if this is common to all xbox players?

The spot where he was when he picked up that duck he shot mid air I saw a diamond moose (male) trotting right by me but I couldn’t take a shot because I had ran out of ammo and only had 1 shot in my shotgun

Great tutorial thanks! You talk about ranges, how you approach, that some animals escape and you dont see others. That is all really great to hear as a beginner. This is all great! Now I notice this is 2 years old, do spine shots still insta-kill? And if you cant get the spine, where on the side do you go for? Double lung?

But also mostly outdated since they reworked the scoring system and rebalanced weapons back in 2020 or 2021. Quick kill and consecutive harvests are now completely irrelevant to the trophy rating and only ad a bit of a bonus to the xp and money you get on a harvest.

The one thing I don't like about this game is how the game mechanics lead you to use spine shots for quick kills, which is kinda unethical in real life. It wouldn't instantly kill an animal but only make is flop around with its front legs on the ground.

Dont hit their spine, it has been nerfed there is a smaller target, double lung or heart should get 100%quick kill

So I'm getting spine shot, when I claim the trophy it shows a spine shot, but I get a very low bleed rate and takes forever for them to go down. What am I doing wrong?

They changed spine shots. You now have to hit the spinal cord rather than just the vertebrae.

dumb question, why not get the duck setups, farm the money and level fast and easy with that, then you can move onto the guns for big animals later. (or snipe with 22 from long range, for rifle and money/xp)

Flinter, why do you never take neck shots on animals facing you directly or directly opposite of you. I personally find it easier than broadside spine shots and even with .243 soft point bullets you can immediately down large game.

Usually it's just riskier, animals can move their heads and dodge it, if you hit too high and catch the jaw a lot of times there isn't enough penetration to get to the neck. I do it though, I think it was last vid in the beginner series on a fleeing doe
