As someone who has chased performance and bought in on hype and have owned, tested and hunted with many of the latest and greatest. The more I find that rebranding the same old stuff with a knew name has filled my closet. A couple of years ago a I dropped some change on a hunt that was out of country and arrived on scene with lost bags and no ammunition. 😢 I can also tell you that i could not find ammunition for my rifle and made for a horrible experience. I can also say that I do not take removable magazines or new calibers rifles into far away places as I no longer have time for the pain of disappointment. 7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag are the gold standard for hunting and convenience. I have also moved back to the keep it simple stupid frame of mind. The more complicated you make life the more disappointed you will end up.

Not sure if you consider 175 grain bullets heavy, but my sako s20, 7 mag, with a 1-9.5 twist is producing .22 inch groups with berger bullets and h1000. I'd say it stabilizes the 175's just fine. Havent tried 180's yet, but 175's at 2950 fps is fast enough to kill anything I shoot at out to 1000 yards.

I think you’re onto something with the stocks. My brother n law has a 30 noz in a Browning Hells Canyon Max. We shot it without the brake and I couldn’t say it was any worse than my 12 gauge over under field gun with bird shot. I was amazed.

For me it's the 7mmprc! A 195gr berger out of a 28 nosler velocity is 2,949fps at 85gr of lrt! 7mm prc is 2871fps with 75gr! I can't justify a 78fps faster with 10 more grains of powder! That's terrible I know you can push each cartridge more but this is ramshot lrt load data! Enjoyed your vid

I own both 7 PRC and 28 Nosler . I have no preference on one over the other . The 28 is set up for extreme long range hunting and my PRC was built as a light weight moutain rifle . Both shoot ELDX extremely well Sub .5 MOA . I have always been a .284 fan boy and always will be .

Another awesome vid. 16:18 This right here I have heard said elswhere and it makes perfect sense. If you already have a 7 or .28 Nosler or the 280 AI or WBY 7 Mag or 7 Rem Mag (a number of people I have encountered have either the 7 Rem Mag or the .28 Nosler,) you are mostly likely already reloading and handloading and already have the gear and collected dies over the years. And you don't need a 7 PRC. You are already getting the performance you want that is better than the factory stuff. The 7 PRC is a compromise that can fill a specific niche, as it does for me. I am the perfect audience for the 7 PRC. Not only do I not have other 7s, my other rifles are different set-ups in .308 W. Most any would be good on deer to elk if shooting at 300 yards and less because I go by impact velocity and prefer to play it safe at 2000 fps at impact. So, the 7 PRC is my first 7, first long action (standard) and first magnum round. I put it in a chassis and the magazine I have to use is the AICS (metal) 5 rd for .300 Win Mag. Granted the COAL of the 7 is less than the .300 Win Mag but not hugely so. In fact, Hornady says you could simply re-barrel an existing .300 Win Mag action, if you so desire. If you want to build custom and do lots of handloading, get a 7 Rem Mag (or .28 Nosler in your case.) If you want a factory rifle that shoots factory ammo pretty well (I think mostly due to SAAMI spec) and you don't already have a 7, then get this one. And the big thing you see on Hornady's page for the 7 PRC is that they also released the dies at the same time. Because you know guys who already have all the cool stuff, like .257 Roberts, etc, are going to experiment with this, as well. I like the 7 PRC primarily as a hunter because it does shoot flatter than some other cartridges and handles the wind pretty well. And I could shoot long distance, as well. And the recoil I use is an ASR brake and Aerotech slip-on. Until Backfire came along with his Back Stop pad, no one was making really good pads for chassis to replace the hard plastic butts they have. So, with that on there, it feels like an unbraked .308 that pushes rather than jabs.

Weather right are wrong I drank the 7mm prc cool-aid because I had a 7 mag with a 26 inch barrel and I shoot suppressor so 26+6 and my rifle was over 14 pounds without bipod. I felt like I carry a boscucca hunting and it seemed like was always hitting every tree. I watched a video with someone shooting 7prc and he was loosing maybe a 150ft pre second with 20 inch barrel and I was hooked. I hated to hunt with that 7mag rifle. I was new to guns and hunting when I built it. I was told that I need at least a 26 inch barrel or I was wasting my time. Now my rifle with suppressor, scope, bipod weights 9.8 and I love it. Max length 26 with suppressor.

Hell, I’d take a 280AI over any of those choices. With today’s technology in better quality high BC bullets, Lighter cartridges can retain velocity and perform to very long ranges. I am also a fan of 7mm-08. I am not fond of overbore cartridges as I do like to shoot my rifles… sub 2000rd barrel life is a no go for me.

7mm-08 is fine, just fine. Love it. Got an 18 foot spread on an unfortunate rabbit with mine back in 2009. The duck behind it drifted away on the breeze. Also bagged two Roos with one shot using 154gr SSTs. First roo had a largish exit hole, the second roo was split completely in half save 1 rib and a little skin. Mate said, "Strewth" and borrowed it for a while.

Most people shoot factory guns and factory ammo. So considering that PRC is the way to go. The Rem Mag doesn’t offer anything like the 175 gr at 3000 from Hornady. The Nosler shoots a 175 (when considering the same barrel length) 75 fps faster than the PRC and it has 32% more recoil than the PRC. Easy choice!

Why didn't choose 28 nosler. Barrel lifetime is less. Quality otc hunting bullets $6/bullet for 175gr and finding a low 8 twist ratio is difficult so must shoot 162gr. Closest budget rifle is ultralight savage at 8.44twist which is normally $1500, but can find at $1000. Difficult to find good brands of rifle in budget for 28nosler weatherby, ruger, tikka. Overall 28 nosler requires reloading to be able to shoot just for fun. Why 28 nosler is great the best ballistics out of all 3. Cheapest option, Savage UL is very lightweight with muzzle break at $1000 on sale. It is 2 inches shorter at 22inch, a couple pounds lighter than the 7mm prc options. Why not the 7mm rem mag. Its amazing and has been. 7mm prc is an updated version with better ballistics at tolerable recoil. Most importantly commercially 7mm prc has become widely available quickly. My region 7mm prc will be available all the time for ammo and rifles. Also ballistics of a 162gr 28nosler and 175gr 7mm prc are like 1in difference at 750yards, beyond common hunting range.

I,VE owned my 700 BDL in 7mm rem mag for 32 years and it has been the absolute shit on everything I have turned it on . NEVER have I had to shoot a animal twice. I use a 1972 RCBS loading manual when they used to publish maxx loads unlike the pussy loads they claim are maxx now for insurance reasons . I get 2975 from a 175 nosler partition ahead of 62.5 grs of IMR 4350 and 3200 fps from a 150 gr swift scirrocco ahead of 66.5 grs of 4350. Wih those velocities out of a 24 inch barrel.I am.not abandoning my beloved 7mm rem mag for 150 fps and 15 lbs more kick and 20 percent more powder. IF hunters would use ethics and not take shots over 500 yards the 7mm Rem mag, 30/ 06 , 300.win mag wiuld still be selling like hot cakes.

@@user-db3ek3lw4y I shoot custom rifles. I don't waste my time with factory rifles. If I do buy a factory rifle. I know my custom 7mag with the 8 twist barrel with 30 in barrel with rl 26 will out shoot a 7prc. I have a 6.5 prc. Not totally impressed with it. My custom 264 win mag is 10 time the rifle. When I can shoot a rag hole and 3340 with a 140 grain Berger I don't need the 6.5 prc. But I will say that it is accurate. What I don't like about the factory 6.5 prc that I can load it max load without pressure problems. If I had a custom rig in that caliber I could load it to the max without any issues
