Want to know what shoes will help you with double bass ? Want to know THE big secret about them ? Well, they almost don't matter to my opinion ! Need evidence of that ? Then watch this video where you'll see me playing at 150, 220, 240, 260 and 280 bpm with Socks, Crocs, Yoda slippers, Heels pump, Dr Martens, and Santiags ! Yes, you'll hear some little mistakes, some parts are a bit sloppy, but I've done that with NO practice on these shoes. Can you imagine what you an achieve if you actually play regularly with one these shoes ? I'm waiting for your feedback on this first video of THE XTREME METAL DRUMMING MYTHS INVESTIGATION.

KRIMH, next to Ken Bedene you are the Jeff Loomis of the drums. NEVER LEAVE SEPTIC , you're the perfect to replace Fotis & Septic is one of the best bands past-present-future, since they started... Those magnificent growls of Spiros, like Mikael Åkerfeldt in Ghost reveries & Bloodbath period, deep low grow but understandable... Christos heavy riffs next to Sotiris... Pure music that will never die like: TIAMAT , The vision bleak , Moonspell , Celtic Frost , Morbid angel , Emperor , Opeth , Katatonia , Satyricon , Goatwhore , Obscura , Vesania ... You're fortunate to share the stage with such demons, now you're one of them. "I know you" before you joined Septic by the way, it was a coincidence.

Ahaha, that was just glorious! For me personally it is much harder to play with different shoes, especially when the heel part is different from what I normally use - but in the end it is just a matter of getting used to it, as you said. I use the same old pair of chucks for around 6-8 years now I think - no need for new expensive ones :D

Shoes absolutely DO matter. You may be able to pull off all your crazy skills with high heels and Yoda slippers, but your feet will start hurting in the long run. Nobody really uses the wrong shoes though. There are a variety of factor like your weight, height, what you're used to, ect. I personally prefer either running shoes or Converse All Stars.

depending on the level it's matter or not. when you have a really good level with many experience sure it's not matter so much because you are on a performance zone but for a begginer or medium level it's matter much more as peaople are much on learning zone and not performance (big difference in learning motor control ) regarding injury for a long period of time of practicing it's matter a lot refering to the biomecanic mouvement of the ankle and possible stress on shin splin and so on feel free to contact me if you need more details about anatomical and biomecanic drumming mouvements your video and playing are great so far

If you ever plan on doing a part 2, try some motocross or enduro boots, like Alpinestars Tech 7. They have some protection for ankles, which is great if you fly off a bike (or the bike lands on your foot!), but it'll lock your ankle much more in place for fast drumming. Fun video!!

I use Chuck Taylor high tops. They seem the best for me. I've played barefoot and in steel toed boots before. Steel toes are good for power but exhausting. Barefoot just felt like I had no strength. The Chuck's seemed the best balance. Everyone is different though. Find what works best for you.

Ah-ha! I love this new direction. I play in everything from barefoot to socks to parkour shoes to bear claw slippers and it makes me chuckle when people ask about footwear, gear, and little toys aimed at getting better. Makes me feel old to say, "Um, practice. How much do you practice? Oh. Practice more. Don't worry about that. Practice." But I was a silly kid watching Flo in the 90s, so I kinda get it too. I think i'm gonna enjoy watching these myths.

One of Kevin's biggest fans, but I do think he's missing the point here. Shoes don't matter so much to drummers who already know how to play fast.. Ken Bedene and Kevin are two of the best examples you can give.. they've already learned the technique and muscle memory takes over, whatever shoes they're wearing. For someone learning, though, it's definitely important to have comfortable flexible shoes, or else it would obviously be much more difficult to develop good technique. Especially learning to swivel like Ken.. not saying swiveling is any harder than straight singles, but swiveling in big heavy boots or heels might not work so well.

Dude, listen, i'm studying the double pedal currently, and i've learnt if you want to reach high speeds you just need to train. that's what i'm currently doing and i can see defferences between how i played one month ago and how i play now. Nothing's impossible if you train!👌

Do you feel that using direct drive pedals of higher quality like Trick makes you able to hit higher tempos like 270-280bpm or can you do it with other chain or belt driven pedals as well? I use Pearl Eliminators belt driven and I feel that it's very difficult to hit 260 and 270bpm, I can maybe play 16th notes at those tempos if I have warmed up for only 2 seconds or so. I use the exact same technique as you as far as it looks like.

Hello! This is from a long time player/31 plus yrs. Wondering if this subject has ever come up in regards to playing extreme music. I never took notice of my feet when doing double bass drumming. Yet when I tried many forms of shoes for my feet, they seem to loosen up after being broken in. Then, I would try another pair of something... I was always aware that my right foot was longer than my left, but not aware in regards to my drum playing. I guess I would like to know if you or anyone else is in/has this situation? To me it never affected my practicing, playing or recording, but just made me conscious if this cold be a issue for other drummers? Thx man!

Not really a myth i guess, more of a question: Does it make any difference in playing or in the sound if you have two seperate base drums?
@FadirDungeon
@FadirDungeon 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on how good you are at tuning. If you have two identical bass drums with the same heads on them then you can get the exact same sound from them. It's a bit tricky though. However it's so much nicer to play with two bass drums rather than one I think, so i'd say it's worth it.
