“Gonna start it up, see if it catches on fire” hahaha and that is why I haven’t tackled this project yet…but it’s going to be one of my next.

I feel your pain! Had to do mine outside at night with a lantern. On the fuel rail where it has to slip over that stud is a pain. I just cut that part off on mine. Nice looking ZX though, wished mine looked half as good.

That moter is so nice and neat. Your injectors were not bad.

I had to tear down and clean my injectors about five times. It is a pain but so easy now that if 280`s were still around like ours I would be making $$$$$$. You don`t have to remove coolant hoses , take the distributor cap off and lay it over the right side and then remove your bolts and loosen the injector hose clamps and pull it loose from the injector rail wiggling it. the other things you must move out of the way are obvious.

Lol, I had to hit pause at 1:40... Up to this point I have been watching this video wondering how in the hell your going to do this with the fuel rail bolted down lmao.. I have been here and done that many, many, MANY moons ago and so far this video is gold to me haha. The take 1, 2 and 3 were the icing to this video. Sure hope you still have the car.. love to see an update Where did you get that awesome cold air from?

It certainly was a learning curve haha. Now, 6 Z's later (Still have this one) I'm able to do an injector job in under two hours. The cold air Intake I made myself.

gaining access to the injectors is the hardest part...First you need to remove Lots of mounts.pulleys.etc...and have Patience...once you do so it isn't a walk in the park...have done it twice...both times leaky /plugged injectors...that fuel rail don't just move out of the way...plus you have to deal w/ other electrical wires and fuel lines...

Appreciate the video! My car looks or ah . . . at one time, looked just like yours but the valve cover came with the silver metallic color. I noticed yours is black with the silver lettering on it. Is there anything significant with that as far as anything else with the cars? When was yours manufactured, mine was November of 1981? At this moment, my car is on stands in the backyard being revived after more than 10 years of doing nothing but rust. I had just connected new fuel injectors and replaced the connectors but am not sure of the sequence of the wires! But you did say that your injectors all fire at the same time so . . . . I'm just hoping I have the very exact car as yours!

Glad you liked it. My valve cover was a bit oxidized, so years ago I painted it satin black and colored the letters and outlines white with a fine paint brush. Mine is has a build date of 5/82, so it's a bit of a later '82 model. And yes, luckily for you all L28 EFI have injectors that are "batch fired" so you can literally plug them in a random order and the engine will still run perfectly normal.

@@HooliganGarage-650 Hey hey hey! "batch fired" huh, am learning somethin'! Thanks for the awesome info brah!

when i replaced the injectors i didn't mark the connectors to put it back in as it was . and now it doesn't start . can putting the connectors into wrong injectors be the problem ?
@HooliganGarage-6509 жыл бұрын
mohammed elblanco The injectors are batched-fired (They don't fire in an order, but all at once) Mismatching the connections wouldn't cause it not to run right. But youre saying it doesn't start whatsoever?
@mohammedelblanco6789 жыл бұрын
it starts but the engine doesn't run .

Are you kidding me.... You did not show How to pull the injectors out...
@HooliganGarage-65010 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that, i got caugt up in the whole fuel rail mishap. Pulling the injectors is very simple. Just unscrew the screws from the mounts and the injectors pull right out.
