I didn't expect that terraforming river silt deposits into suitable farm/living land would look like this with all the pipes and moving the silt back out of the barge by turning it back to a slurry and such but it makes a ton of sense and it seems like this method works pretty good. Thank you for showing this process! It is fascinating, I hope those kids are earning a decent living doing it, it seems like hard work. Also, you refer to the sediment they are transporting in the barge as "sand", which is very close to the right word but the word "sand" when used precisely refers to sediment that has no organic black stuff in it, sand is different than mud essentially. Sand cannot easily be transported by water, the size of the grains of sand is too large to stay suspended in water which is why you typically see sand desposited in only the really quick sections of rivers. I think the word for this kind of sediment would be silt, or if it truly is really sandy than silt-sand or sandy silt might be more accurate descriptions! Not a big deal, its just people might get confused and not understand why farmers would want to raise their fields with sand which makes poor soil to grow crops in! (Confusingly where I live people ARE always transporting sand and gravel, but its for things like building places to channel rainwater runoff or septic systems). Or maybe I got this all wrong, is most of this sediment transport on barges for foundations for houses and roads and such, not for raising farm land/land for growing crops?

Thankyou for an interesting and informative documentary on sand delivery. My respect to the men on the crew for their hard and expert work. Here in Florida USA sand is most often moved this way from a dredged ship channel to a beach, an efficient way to move sand.
