[Builder's view] Tamiya 1/24 Subaru Impreza WRC '98 Monte-Carlo is in progress.
Since the bonnet pins are molded onto the kit's body parts, I will make them out of aluminum plate. This is because molding can make it difficult to paint different sections separately and can be inconvenient when polishing the body parts. By remaking them in aluminum, finishing the body parts becomes easier, and there's no need to paint the bonnet pins themselves, making the process more enjoyable. It also increases the precision of the final product.

At this point I would not be suprised that you manage to make a functioning one with the complete latch mechanism! You go soooo far beyond what is expected of a model building kit.

Yes, I enjoyed the thumb video - great filming! 🙂Seriously, those pins are a work of art, I have enough trouble folding up photo etch ones - scratchbuild them - no chance! Simply brilliant modelling - I hope you've put them somewhere safe till you need to use them!!

Hi Kenji, it's incredible how accurate these tiny items are. The trunk clips look like they will actually work. I can't imagine seeing something so small to work on. This model is off to a great start, you have been busy. Thank you for sharing Kenji, and take care.

Thanks, The wire is steel. If aluminum is made this thin, it will be too soft and will not hold its shape.
